The electrochemical deposition of Cu nanoparticles with an average diameter of approximately 25-35 nm has been reported at liquid-liquid interfaces by using the organic-phase electron-donor decamethylferrocene (DMFc). The electrodeposited Cu nanoparticles display excellent catalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER); this is the first reported catalytic effect of Cu nanoparticles at liquid-liquid interfaces.

The nuclear pore complex (NPC) is the proteinous nanopore that solely regulates molecular transport between the nucleus and cytoplasm of a eukaryotic cell. Hypothetically, the NPC utilizes the hydrophobic barriers based on the repeats of phenylalanine-glycine (FG) units to selectively and efficiently transport macromolecules. Amyloid fibril formation of α-synuclein (αSN) is a hallmark of synucleinopathies. Although the previous studies have provided numerous insights into the molecular basis of αSN amyloid formation, it remains unclear how αSN self-assembles into amyloid fibrils in vivo. Here, we show that αSN amyloid formation is accelerated in the presence of two macromolecular crowders, polyethylene glycol (PEG) (MW: ~10,000) and dextran (DEX) (MW: ~500,000), with a maximum at approximately 7% (w/v) PEG and 7% (w/v) DEX.

Understanding the adsorption features of polymer microgels with different chemical compositions and structures is crucial in studying the mechanisms of respective emulsion stabilization. Specifically, the use of stimuli-responsive particles can introduce new properties and broaden the application range of such complex systems. Recently, we demonstrated that emulsions stabilized by microgels composed of interpenetrating networks (IPNs) of poly-N-isopropylacrylamide (PNIPAM) and polyacrylic acid (PAA) exhibit higher colloidal stability upon heating compared to PNIPAM homopolymer and other relevant PNIPAM-based copolymer counterparts.
