We report an efficient procedure to carry out palladium-catalyzed Miyaura borylation reactions of (hetero)aromatic halides and triflates in choline chloride (ChCl)-based deep eutectic solvents (DESs). The procedure employs bis(pinacolato)diboron as a boron source and a catalyst prepared in situ from readily available Pd(dba) and the phosphine ligand XPhos. Reactions proceed well in different ChCl-based DESs, among which the best results were provided by environmentally friendly and biodegradable mixtures with glycerol and glucose.

A highly diastereoselective Pd(0)-catalyzed synthesis of difluorinated 1,3-dienes is described. Symmetrical 1,3-dienes containing a vicinal difluoro moiety can be obtained as single diastereomers from tetrasubstituted -difluoroalkenes. The reaction presumably proceeds through a stereoselective twofold Pd-catalyzed Miyaura borylation/Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling of the C-F bond.

A facile and efficient palladium-catalyzed borylation of aryl (pseudo)halides at room temperature has been developed. Arylboronic esters were expeditiously assembled in good yields and with a broad substrate scope and good functional group compatibility. This approach has been successfully applied to the one-pot two-step borylation/Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction, providing a concise access to biaryl compounds from readily available aryl halides.

Herein, palladium-catalyzed Miyaura borylation of 4-bromo-2,4'-bithiazoles followed by Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction (named the MBSC process) with (hetero)aryl- and alkenyl halides is reported. This methodology offers rapid access to various 2',4-disubstituted 2,4'-bithiazole features including naturally-occurring 4-alkenylated and 4-pyridinylated 2,4'-bithiazoles. To prove its application, a concise approach for the synthesis of a heterocyclic cluster of the thiopeptide d-series antibiotic GE2270 is reported through a late-stage MBSC strategy.

A modified Pd-catalyzed method of forming aryl- and heteroarylboron species and a two-step, one-pot borylation/Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling using the atom economical tetrahydroxydiboron (bis-boronic acid, BBA) is reported. By using ethylene glycol as an additive, the new method results in increased yields, lower BBA loading, faster reaction times, and a broader reaction scope, including previously problematic substrates such as heterocycles.
