Sacral nerve stimulation (SNS) was originally developed in the field of urinary incontinence. Without adaptation, it was subsequently applied to treat faecal incontinence. SNS has now become a first line therapy for this socially disabling condition, however the mechanism of action is unknown. This review examines the evidence for stimulation parameters currently used for SNS in humans and considers the potential electrophysiological effects of changing these parameters. However, without a proper understanding of the physiology of SNS, changing stimulation parameters remains empirical.

The visual environment of sign language users is markedly distinct in its spatiotemporal parameters compared to that of non-signers. Although the importance of temporal and spectral resolution in the auditory modality for language development is well established, the spectrotemporal parameters of visual attention necessary for sign language comprehension remain less understood. This study investigates visual temporal resolution in learners of American Sign Language (ASL) at various stages of acquisition to determine how experience with sign language affects perceptual sampling.

Background: Microglia play an important role in immune memory. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) triggers immune memory and primes microglia, resulting in brain pathologies and brain dysfunction following a second stimulus (1, 2). An increase in the C1q/ PSD95 expressions within microglia and excessively synaptic pruning were observed in mouse model of Alzheimer's disease (3).

Background: The study of the involvement of the cerebellum in learning and memory has become one of the recent hot topics in the field of cognitive neuroscience. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) of the cerebellum has gained increasing interest in the treatment of cognition-related disorders, making it necessary to determine the optimal parameters for cerebellar TMS. In this study, we aim to explore the effects of different frequencies of cerebellar repetitive TMS (rTMS) on working memory regulation and the associated electrophysiological changes.

Objective: To explore whether acupuncture combined with clomiphene can reduce the luteinizing hormone-to follicle-stimulating hormone ratio and impact the gut microbiota in patients with obese polycystic ovary syndrome.
Methods: This open-label, randomized, parallel-group controlled trial included 86 women aged 20-40 years with obese polycystic ovary syndrome and 19 healthy controls. Participants were randomly assigned to either an acupuncture combined with clomiphene group or a clomiphene-only group, with a healthy control group for comparison.

Background: Although the introduction of erythropoietin-stimulating agents (ESAs) has led to better clinical outcomes in patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD), fluctuations in hemoglobin (Hb) levels, known as Hb variability, are frequently observed. However, only a few studies have evaluated the association between Hb variability and nutritional status in patients undergoing HD.
Methods: In this prospective study conducted between March 1, 2020, and June 1, 2022, we included 109 patients aged over 20 years undergoing HD and receiving darbepoetin.
