A novel zinc hydroxy acetate hydrogen carbonate Zn5(OH)8.2(CH3COO)(HCO3)0.8·1.9H2O, isomorphous to Zn5(OH)8(CH3COO)2·xH2O, has been obtained by the reaction of zinc acetate dihydrate in aged ethylenediamine. This phase allows the growth of large arrays of oriented and crystallized nanorods up to 8 μm in length on a substrate, without crystallization of additional particles.

Zinc methyl 13,13-disubstituted 3-hydroxymethyl-pyropheophorbides-a were prepared as models of bacteriochlorophyll-d, which self-aggregated in the main light-harvesting antenna (chlorosome) of photosynthetic green bacteria. The synthetic zinc 3-hydroxy-13-oxo-chlorins possessing methyl and methoxycarbonyl groups at the 13-position could not self-aggregate in an aqueous Triton X-100 solution. However, another model compound bearing an ethane-1,2-diyl group at the 13-position did self-aggregate under the same conditions to give red-shifted and broadened Qy and Soret absorption bands.

Two experiments were conducted to determine: 1) the impact of strained rumen fluid (SRF) alone or SRF with particle-associated microorganisms (PAO) included and dilution on in vitro dry matter digestibility (DMD) and 2) the impact of trace mineral (TM) source on in vitro fermentation characteristics and TM solubility under simulated abomasal and intestinal conditions. In experiment 1, 3 cannulated steers were adapted to a diet formulated to meet the nutrient requirements for lactating dairy cows. Strained RF was obtained by straining rumen content through 2 layers of cheesecloth.

In this study, a new molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-based sensor platform was developed for the electrochemical determination of gallic acid (GAL) in plant extracts, wine, and herbal supplements. Gallic acid is known for its natural antioxidant properties, which play an important role in preventing cell deterioration that can lead to various diseases. In addition, gallic acid has therapeutic potential due to its anticancer, antiinflammatory, antimicrobial, and neuroprotective properties.
