Ten different layer and broiler breeding farms, located in the central part of the country were sampled to detect antibodies against the Avian Encephalomyelitis Virus (AEV). Fifty embrionated eggs, per house, were examined using the Embryo Susceptibility Test. Samples of eggs from 21 houses of broiler breeder hens and 9 of breeder layers were collected from all the poultry farms studied. The antigen used in the Embryo Susceptibility Test was prepared from the van Roekel strain for AEV. The results indicated a high degree of specific immunity against the AEV in 86.7% of the sections checked. This immunity could be due to the presence of the causal of AEV in natural form, since the birds in these farms had not been vaccinated against this ornithopathy. This is the first study carried out in Chile which detected the presence of antibodies against AEV in layer and broiler breeding farms, leading to a massive vaccination program against the disease in the country.

Growth traits are one of the focuses of sheep breeding, and growth curve is an effective method to describe growth traits. The body weight of Yiling sheep at 0, 120, 180, 360 and 540 days of age were fitted with five common nonlinear growth models: Logistic, Gompertz, Von Bertalanffy, Brody and Negative exponential, and the growth models were evaluated by goodness of fit standard. The results showed that the Von Bertalanffy model was suitable for characterizing the growth of Yiling sheep.

In plants, autophagy is a conserved process by which intracellular materials, including damaged proteins, aggregates, and entire organelles, are trafficked to the vacuole for degradation, thus maintaining cellular homeostasis. The past few decades have seen extensive research into the core components of the central autophagy machinery and their physiological roles in plant growth and development as well as responses to biotic and abiotic stresses. Moreover, several methods have been established for monitoring autophagic activities in plants, and these have greatly facilitated plant autophagy research.
