Automated Quantification of Axonal and Myelin Changes in Contusion, Dislocation, and Distraction Spinal Cord Injuries: Insights into Targeted Remyelination and Axonal Regeneration.

Key Laboratory of Biomechanics and Mechanobiology, Ministry of Education, Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Biomedical Engineering, School of Biological Science and Medical Engineering, Beihang University - Yifu Science Hall, 37 Xueyuan Road, Haidian, Beijing, 100191, China. Electronic address:

Quantifying axons and myelin is essential for understanding spinal cord injury (SCI) mechanisms and developing targeted therapies. This study proposes and validates an automated method to measure axons and myelin, applied to compare contusion, dislocation, and distraction SCIs in a rat model. Spinal cords were processed and stained for neurofilament, tubulin, and myelin basic protein, with histology images segmented into dorsal, lateral, and ventral white matter regions.

Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is needed across the lifetime to maintain viral suppression for people living with HIV. In South Africa, obstacles to reliable access to ART persist and are magnified in rural areas, where HIV services are also typically costlier to deliver. A recent pilot randomized study (the Deliver Health Study) found that home-delivered ART refills, provided at a low user fee, effectively overcame logistical barriers to access and improved clinical outcomes in rural South Africa.

It has been proposed that maximizing expectancy violation enhances the efficacy of exposure therapy. The clinical utility of expectancy violation remains unclear and it has not yet been studied in PTSD. We aimed to test whether explicitly focusing on expectancy violation leads to superior exposure outcomes.

RNA-Seq analysis has become a routine task in numerous genomic research labs, driven by the reduced cost of bulk RNA sequencing experiments. These generate billions of reads that require accurate, efficient, effective, and reproducible analysis. But the time required for comprehensive analysis remains a bottleneck.

Background And Purpose: With the increasing amount of in-house created deep learning models in radiotherapy, it is important to know how to minimise the risks associated with the local clinical implementation prior to clinical use. The goal of this study is to give an example of how to identify the risks and find mitigation strategies to reduce these risks in an implemented workflow containing a deep learning based planning tool for breast Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy.

Materials And Methods: The deep learning model ran on a private Google Cloud environment for adequate computational capacity and was integrated into a workflow that could be initiated within the clinical Treatment Planning System (TPS).
