- The study investigated the effects of Calotropis procera and its compounds calotropin (CLT) and gomphogenin (GPG) on osteoporosis in rats induced by ovariectomy.
- Treatment with C. procera extract, CLT, and GPG for 14 days restored normal estradiol levels and improved bone health by regulating key biomarkers and increasing serum calcium and phosphorus.
- CLT showed greater effectiveness than GPG in reducing bone turnover by inhibiting osteoclastic activity and facilitating calcium mineralization, confirmed through molecular docking studies.

Heart failure (HF) represents the terminal stage of cardiovascular diseases, with limited therapeutic options currently available. Calotropin (CAL), a cardenolide isolated from Calotropis gigantea, exhibits a similar chemical structure and inhibitory effect on Na+/K+-ATPase to digoxin, a positive inotropic drugs used in heart failure treatment. However, the specific effect of calotropin in ischemic HF (IHF) remains unknown.
