Technical difficulties during colorectal surgery increase the complication rates. We introduce a modified single stapler technique for patients in whom technical problems are encountered while performing double stapler technique. Before pelvic dissection, descending colon is divided at minimum 10 cm proximal to the tumoral segment. Tumor specific mesorectal excision is performed and two purse string sutures are placed at the distal margin with an interval of 1 - 2 cm. After introducing a circular stapler via the anus, the distal purse string suture is tied around the central shaft of the stapler and the proximal purse string suture around the colonic lumen. After the resection is completed between the two sutures, the anvil shaft is connected to the central shaft and the stapler is closed and fired. None of the patients had an anastomotic leak. This technique may be a safe alternative particularly in patients with narrow pelvis and distal tumors.

The plane running between two adjacent pulmonary segments consists of a very thin layer of connective tissue through which the pulmonary vein also runs. To perform an anatomically correct segmentectomy, this segmental plane needs to be divided. Before the operation, the locations of vessels and bronchi are confirmed by three-dimensional computed tomography.

Background: With advancements in minimally invasive thoracic surgery techniques, such as video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and robotic surgery, the design of vascular staplers has evolved to meet the requirements of these procedures. Consequently, newer generations of automatic staplers with improved handling and reduced size have been introduced, such as two-row staplers, which are more maneuverable and less bulky than their three-row counterparts.
Case Presentation: A 68-year-old man with lung cancer underwent a right middle and lower lobectomy due to tumor invasion into the central middle bronchial trunk, rendering the preservation of the middle lobe impossible.

Background: Robotic bariatric surgery adoption rates have increased, and the higher costs associated with robotic sleeve gastrectomy (rSG) are a concern.
Objectives: To investigate the factors associated with increased costs of rSG.
Setting: US hospital database.

Pulmonary sequestration is a rare congenital anomaly, characterized by aberrant lung tissue supplied by an aberrant systemic artery or arteries coursing within the inferior pulmonary ligament. The intralobar variety is the most frequent form. Clinical presentation may include recurrent haemoptysis and infection.

Introduction: Spontaneous pneumothorax is a life-threatening thoracic condition that could be either primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP) in the absence of an underlying lung disease or secondary spontaneous pneumothorax (SSP) in the presence of an underlying lung disease. In the case of recurrent, contralateral spontaneous pneumothorax or persistent air leak with a chest drain, surgery with bullectomy associated with pleurectomy or pleurodesis is the gold standard management.
Aim: To compare two different techniques for bullectomy, either by using staplers or by hand sewing.
