Background/objectives: Diet composition is important for health, especially during critical periods such as pre-gestation (P), gestation (G), or lactation (S), due to its potential impact not only on the mother but on the offspring. The Mediterranean diet includes many healthy foods rich in fiber and/or polyphenols, such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, and nuts. The present preclinical study assesses the impact of a diet rich in fiber and polyphenols (HFP diet) during one of those three periods (P, G, or S, three weeks each) on the rat gene expression of the small intestine obtained at the end of the lactation period.

Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) has been widely adopted for the screening of chromosomal abnormalities; however, its adoption for monogenic disorders, such as β-thalassaemia, has proven challenging. Haemoglobinopathies are the most common monogenic disorders globally, with β-thalassaemia being particularly prevalent in Cyprus. This study introduces a non-invasive prenatal haplotyping (NIPH) assay for β-thalassaemia, utilizing cell-free DNA (cfDNA) from maternal plasma.

Obstacle avoidance during locomotion is a crucial motor skill, especially in environments with uneven terrain. However, the combined effects of obstacle dimensions and aging on this ability remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate whether the action of stepping over an obstacle changes proportionally with obstacle size and how these movements evolve with age.

During multi-agent combat simulation exercises, accurately assessing the quality of collected combat data is a critical step. Addressing the current issue of low accuracy in combat data quality evaluation, which fails to effectively support simulation exercises, this paper proposes a Double-Weighted FAHP optimized by CVF (comparative value function) method for assessing combat data quality. First, a three-tiered evaluation framework for combat data quality indicators is established, with threshold values determined for each indicator.

Understanding the interactions between molecules and sensing elements is crucial to improving sensors. We present one step toward getting closer to the breach between theory and empirical sensor development. Through density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we explored the changes in some optical properties of pristine graphene (G), graphene oxide (GO), and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) interacting with one molecule of acetaminophen (APAP).
