AI Article Synopsis

  • The study aimed to establish early diagnostic criteria for hearing disorders in children with chronic pyelonephritis, involving 100 participants.
  • 37% of the children were found to have sensorineural hearing loss, with specific issues in high-frequency sensitivity (6,000 to 8,000 Hz).
  • The findings suggest that the severity and duration of chronic pyelonephritis are linked to the extent of hearing loss, leading to the recommendation of incorporating these diagnostic criteria into routine check-ups for affected patients.

Article Abstract

The objective of the present study was to develop the criteria for early diagnostics of hearing disorders in the children presenting with chronic pyelonephritis. The study included 100 children of whom 37 (37%) suffered from the sensorineural hearing loss. The early manifestations of this disorder and the enhancement of the acoustic sensitivity threshold for the high frequencies in the range from 6,000 to 8,000 Hz were documented. The study has demonstrated the dependence of the severity of hearing loss on the duration and severity of chronic pyelonephritis. The criteria for early diagnostics of hearing disorders in the children presenting with chronic pyelonephritis were developed and recommended for the inclusion in the standard examination of the patients with pyelonephritis.
