A strategy to achieve a ratiometric thermometer by encapsulating luminescent perylene dye into the pores of a europium metal-organic framework (MOF) is developed. The resulting MOF⊃dye thermometer exhibits highly temperature-dependent luminescence intensity ratio over the physiological temperature range, with a maximum sensitivity of 1.28% °C(-1) at 20 °C.

Background: High-precision and broad-range pH detection is critical for health status assessment, such as signal transduction, enzyme activity, endocytosis, and cell proliferation and apoptosis. Although pH-responsive ratiometric fluorescent probes offer an effective pH monitoring strategy, their preparation often requires multi-step modification and decreases fluorescence efficiency and stability. Herein, we developed a simple method to prepare fluorescent Si dots with dual emission centers for high-precision and broad-range pH monitoring, and the detection of urease based on pH-responsive Si dots and pH monitoring in living cell was further explored.

Herein, a "lab-on-an-AIE@Ln/ICP" sensor array was constructed by employing aggregation-induced emission carbon quantum dots (AIE-CQDs) as the guest and Eu/GMP ICP as the host. Based on the antenna effect (AE) and reductive photo-induced electron transfer (r-PET) between CQDs@Eu/GMP ICPs and tetracyclines (TCs), the as-constructed sensor produced satisfactorily dual-emitting fluorescence. By combining pH regulation with principal component analysis (PCA), the underlying fingerprinting patterns realized the specific identification and quantitation of six TCs in animal farm wastewater, milks and milk-derivative products.

In this work, a simple and sensitive ratiometric fluorescence probe to detect isoniazid (INH) was developed on the basis of carbon dots and MnO nanosheets (MnO NS). Nitrogen-doped carbon dots (FMT-CDs) were synthesized by microwave method using formononetin (FMT) in ammonia water. The oxidase-like activity of MnO NS was utilized to oxidize non-fluorescent o-phenylenediamine (OPD) to 2, 3-diaminophenazine (DAP) with orange fluorescence.

The development of high-sensitivity thermometers has become increasingly important in recent years as the demand for noncontact optical temperature measurement has grown. Herein, we report a series of SrScOF:Mn,Nd (SSOF:Mn,Nd) phosphors synthesized by the traditional high-temperature solid-state method for high-performance temperature sensing. SrScOF possesses a [ScO6F] octahedron and [SrO9F] tridecahedron, doped Mn ions occupy the octahedral sites and emit deep red light at 650-750 nm, and doped Nd ions occupy the tridecahedral sites and emit near-infrared light.

Herein, we pioneered an innovative methodology for the rapid identification and quantitation of methyl parathion (MP) residues, overcoming the drawbacks of existing methods such as poor selectivity, high costs, and intricate operational procedures. A dual-emitting fluoroprobe SiONPs-Eu was engineered based on silica oxide nanoparticles (SiONPs) conjugated with Eu, and the synthetic conditions were meticulously optimized to ensure exceptional sensitivity and selectivity to 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), one of the MP hydrolytic products. Upon excitation at 317 nm, the blue fluorescence of SiONPs at 400 nm was quenched, while the red fluorescence of Eu at 616 nm remained nearly unchanged, constituting a ratiometric fluorescent change that significantly enhanced the detection stability.
