The association between interstitial lung disease and polymyositis/dermatomyositis is well known. It severely affects patients' quality of life, worsens prognosis and represents a major risk factor for premature death. Current treatment is unclear and therapeutic options are based on case series. We report the case of a 15-year old female diagnosed with end-stage lung disease associated to polymyositis who received a double lung transplant after 20 days of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. She died 9 months later and microscopic post-mortem findings revealed recurrence of interstitial lung disease. This is the first time that recurrence of polymyositis-associated lung disease following lung transplantation is described in the literature.

Biomarker research characterising the effect of anti-tuberculosis (TB) chemotherapy on systemic body response is still limited. In this study, we aimed to investigate fluctuations in circulating cell-free mitochondrial DNA (ccf-mtDNA) and circulating cell-free nuclear DNA (ccf-nDNA) copy number (CN) in blood plasma of patients with drug-susceptible TB (DS-TB) and to decipher factors related to these fluctuations. The results showed considerable changes in ccf-mtDNA CN in plasma samples before drug intake and 2 and 6 h afterwards, with high inter patient variability at each time point.

Background/aim: Addressing the critical global shortage of nurses requires an understanding of how a global pandemic reshaped nurses' motivations and intentions toward education. This study aimed to describe COVID-19's impact on nurses' intent to pursue additional education.
Method: This descriptive study, based in North Carolina in the USA, used content analysis with an inductive approach to examine the responses of nurses to one open-ended question in a large quantitative workforce survey: how has COVID-19 influenced your plans for future education? Responses were coded with counts and organised into themes and subthemes.

Purpose: To explore the effect of different reconstruction algorithms (ASIR-V and DLIR) on image quality and emphysema quantification in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients under ultra-low-dose scanning conditions.
Materials And Methods: This prospective study with patient consent included 62 COPD patients. Patients were examined by pulmonary function test (PFT), standard-dose CT (SDCT) and ultra-low-dose CT (ULDCT).

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare neoplastic disease affecting the lung, kidney, and lymphatic system with a molecular mechanism of tuberous sclerosis complex 2 (TSC2) mutations. Vascular endothelial growth factor D (VEGF-D), a ligand for vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3 (VEGFR3), is a diagnostic biomarker of LAM and is associated with lymphatic circulation abnormalities. This study explored the interaction between LAM cells and lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs) and the effects of rapamycin on this interaction, which may help to identify new targets for LAM treatment.

Purpose Of Review: Malnutrition is a significant comorbidity in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), contributing to disease progression and reduced quality of life. This narrative review examines the role of nutritional therapy in the prevention and management of malnutrition in COPD, emphasizing evidence-based approaches and their clinical implications.
Recent Findings: COPD patients face increased metabolic demands, systemic inflammation, and reduced dietary intake, resulting in muscle wasting, sarcopenia, and cachexia.
