We relate the comparison of gene orders to an alignment problem. Our evolutionary model accounts for both rearrangement and content-modifying events. We present a heuristic based on dynamic programming for the inference of the median of three genomes and apply it in a phylogenetic framework. multiOrthoAlign is shown accurate on simulated and real datasets, and shown to significantly improve the running-time of DupLoCut, an "almost" exact algorithm based on linear programming, developed recently for the same problem.

The present study investigated the involvement of human papillomavirus (HPV)16 and HPV18 in oropharyngeal malignancies in order to understand the oncogenic mechanisms, and to identify biomarkers for early detection and treatment targets. Given the rising incidence of HPV-associated cancer, particularly in India, this holds significance in elucidating the molecular basis of these diseases. Structural validation of HPV16 and 18 oncoproteins E6 and E7 was conducted using computational tools, while gene expression profiles related to oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) were analyzed to assess differential expression.

Methods: For the purpose of identifying butyrate metabolism-related differentially expressed genes (BMR-DEGs) in the TCGA-LUAD dataset, we introduced transcriptome data.

Metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD) is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by mutations in the arylsulfatase A (ARSA) gene. Few studies have assessed the spectrum of ARSA mutations among Iranian patients. Here, we report eight Iranian patients with clinical features of MLD.

In order to investigate the impact of hot air (HA) treatment on the sugars and volatiles in postharvest nectarine fruit, nectarines were treated with HA at 40 °C for 4 h and stored at 1 °C for 35 days. Changes of sugars, free and glycosidically bound volatiles, β-glucosidase (β-Glu) activity, and the gene expression of UGT (UDP-glucosyltransferase) in nectarine fruit were determined. The results showed that compared with CK, HA treatment delayed the firmness decline of 48.

Background: La-related protein 7 (LARP7) is a key regulator of RNA metabolism and is thought to play a role in various cellular processes. LARP7 gene autosomal recessive mutations are the cause of Alazami syndrome, which presents with skeletal abnormalities, intellectual disabilities, and facial dysmorphisms. This study aimed to determine the role of LARP7 in modulating gene expression dynamics during osteogenesis.
