Objective: To investigate the cause and related risk factors of an outbreak caused by Brucellosis.
Methods: Epidemiological investigation and laboratory test were carried out among occupationally invloved population including sheep slaughters and sellers in the village.
Results: 18 people were serology positive among the 129 occupationally involved persons under survey. Seven of them were confirmed cases, 11 were latent infection, to make the overall attack rate as 14%. 90% of the sheep were from high-risk areas of Brucella. Among the occupationally involved persons, 89% of them never wore face masks, 84% never wear overalls and 70% never wear gloves. Factors as:work but wearing no gloves (RR = 7.4, 95%CI:1.1-53.0), with hand wound (RR = 3.4, 95%CI:1.1-11.0) could increase the risk of Brucella infection.
Conclusion: The cause of this outbreak was due to the plentiful influx of unchecked sheep from the northern part of China and the employees in the process of sheep slaughtering or trading were lack of effective prevention programs.

5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is a well-known cytostatic drug, which is often used in cancer treatments. Yet, it is also a very dangerous compound for people who are occupationally exposed to it for a long time, such as pharmacy employees, nurses and cleaning staff. We aimed to improve and implement a LC-MS/MS method for 5-FU quantification on surface contamination samples collected with swabs in a pharmacy department and outpatient nursing station of a university hospital.

The activity concentration of U-238, Ra-226, Pb-214, Bi-214, and Pb-210 was measured in samples of polymetallic nodules stored in the repository of the Interoceanmetal Joint Organization (IOM) based in Szczecin, Poland. The nodule samples were collected from the seabed of the Pacific Ocean, within the Clarion-Clipperton Zone, approximately 2000 kilometres west of Mexico. The activity concentration of U-238 in the studied samples ranged from 9 to 51 Bq/kg.

Purpose Of Review: To describe recent findings of diisocyanate-mediated mechanisms in allergy and toxicology by addressing the role of microRNA (miR) in immune responses that may contribute to the development of occupational asthma (OA).
Recent Findings: Studies of diisocyanate asthma have traditionally focused on the immune and inflammatory patterns associated with diisocyanate exposures; however, recognized knowledge gaps exist regarding the detailed molecular mechanism(s) of pathogenesis. Recent studies demonstrate the critical role endogenous microRNAs play as gene regulators in maintaining homeostasis of the human body, and in the pathophysiology of many diseases including asthma.
