Armored brain is condition, which occurs due to calcification in a chronic subdural hematoma (SDH). Here, we are reporting a case of armored brain due to chronic SDH as a complication of vetriculoperitoneal shunt (VP shunt). Patient had undergone major surgery for removal of calcified hematoma. VP shunt is a simple surgery, but can lead to catastrophic complications like this. In this report, we had described this condition and its aspects.

The present work is the third and final part in a series of monographs on the Iranian scale insect fauna (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha) by the same authors: Part 1, the armoured scales (Diaspididae), was published in 2021, and Part 2, the mealybugs (Pseudococcidae and Rhizoecidae) and Putoidae, was published in 2022. Here we cover ten families: Asterolecaniidae, Cerococcidae, Coccidae, Cryptococcidae, Eriococcidae, Kermesidae, Margarodidae, Monophlebidae, Ortheziidae and Phoenicococcidae, bringing the total number of scale insect families recorded in Iran to 14. A key is provided to separate all 14 families.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) affects millions of people and has limited treatment options, thus making it a global health concern. Amyloid β (Aβ), a disrupted cholinergic system with high acetylcholinesterase (AChE), oxidative stress (OS), reduced antioxidants, and neuroinflammation are key factors influencing AD progression. Prior research has shown that AChE can interact with Aβ and increase its accumulation and neurotoxicity, so targeting AChEs and Aβ could be a potential therapeutic approach for AD treatment.

We hereby present a case of an 18-year-old patient who, following initial cerebrospinal fluid overshunting to relieve a congenital hydrocephalus for Dandy-Walker malformation, developed chronic calcified subdural hematoma or an armored brain as a late complication. Chronic calcified subdural hematoma or armored brain is generally rare, and it is even rarer after overshunting. In this report, we present a rare case of bilateral chronic subdural hematoma, also known as "armored brain", 18 years after a ventriculoperitoneal shunt was placed during infancy.

Introduction: Female athletes are underrepresented in concussion research, and few studies have investigated associations of ovarian hormones with concussion outcomes. This study explored associations of concussion with levels and variability of progesterone, estradiol, and their ratio (P/E) and examined relationships of hormone levels with clinical measures and recovery after concussion in CARE Consortium female athletes and cadets. Methods: Female participants enrolled (n = 749) at pre-injury baseline.
