Hypoxia/reoxygenation (HR) often occurs under cardiac pathological conditions, and HR-induced oxidative stress usually leads to cardiomyocyte damage. Carvedilol, a non-selective β-blocker, is used clinically to treat cardiac ischemia diseases. Moreover, Carvedilol has also been reported to have an antioxidant ability by reducing lipid peroxidation.

The study aimed to evaluate the basic pharmacological effects of modified phenyl carbamic acid derivates with a basic part made of N-phenylpiperazine (compounds 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) in Wistar rats. The compounds were evaluated for their ability to decrease the phenylephrine-induced contraction of the aortic strips of rats after repeated administration of the compounds and their ability to inhibit the positive chronotropic effect of isoproterenol on spontaneously beating rat atria. The ability to inhibit the vasoconstriction effect of phenylephrine was confirmed in all compounds in the range from 10.

Background: The use of beta-blockers in treating resistant hypertension remains poorly understood. While PATHWAY-2 showed a systolic blood pressure benefit with bisoprolol, further research is needed to evaluate other beta-blockers in terms of the effect of systolic blood pressure, assess diastolic blood pressure effects, and guide management in patients intolerant to CCBs as well.
Objectives: Our study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Carvedilol (non-selective beta-blocker with alpha-1 blocking function) in the management of resistant hypertension, including in patients intolerant to calcium channel blockers.

This study investigates the impact of a high-sugar environment on H9C2 cardiomyocytes and explores the protective effects of carvedilol in the context of diabetic cardiomyopathy (Dia-CM). Transcriptomic analysis identified 21,655 differentially expressed genes associated with Dia-CM, demonstrating significant separation among samples. H9C2 cardiomyocytes were cultured in a high-sugar environment to simulate Dia-CM conditions.

Background: Global longitudinal strain (GLS) has been used to identify patients at risk for cancer-therapy related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD). However, there is limited data on the effectiveness of initiating cardioprotective therapy based on a strain-guided strategy in early stage HER2+ breast cancer patients. This randomized clinical trial assessed if treatment with carvedilol based on a strain-guided strategy can prevent development of CTRCD in HER2+ breast cancer patients on non-anthracycline based regimens.
