A possibility of germination of clostridia (Cl. tetani and Cl. perfringens) and bacilli (Bac. anthracis, STI vaccine strain) has been studied in model experiments with native soil. Mature spores did not germinate upon contact with native soil of deferent agrochemical types. Addition of meat-pepton medium and other protein, amino acid, and sugar-containing media led only to "swelling" of spores. The data obtained support the conclusions drawn by many researches that pathogenic clostridia and bacilli do not germinate in soil.

Dormancy is a wide-spread key life history trait observed across the tree of life. Many plankton species form dormant cells stages that accumulate in aquatic sediments and under anoxic conditions, form chronological records of past species and population dynamics under changing environmental conditions. Here we report on the germination of a microscopic alga, the abundant marine diatom Skeletonema marinoi that had remained dormant for up to 6871 ± 140 years in anoxic sediments of the Baltic Sea and resumed growth when exposed to oxygen and light.

Introduction: () is a small transcription factor family known for its role in various developmental processes in plants, particularly in binding GA motifs and regulating flower and seed development. However, research on the functional characteristics and target genes of in coconut () is limited.
Methods: In this study, we systematically characterized the gene structure, conserved protein domains, gene expansion, and target genes of in the coconut genome.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are closed-loop RNAs forming a covalent bond between their 3' and 5' ends, the back splice junction (BSJ), rendering them resistant to exonucleases and thus more stable compared to linear RNAs. Identification of circRNAs and distinction from their cognate linear RNA is only possible by sequencing the BSJ that is unique to the circRNA. CircRNAs are involved in the regulation of their cognate RNAs by increasing transcription rates, RNA stability, and alternative splicing.

A consortium of five distinct bacterial strains was evaluated for their ability to biodegrade multiple polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in sewage sludge under microcosm studies. The presence of PAHs was determined from the sludge samples collected during pre- and post-monsoon seasons from three different wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Among the 16 PAHs found, the lowest concentration detected was 1.
