Solar cells consisting of an extremely thin In2S3/CuInS2 buffer/absorber layer uniformly covering planar ZnO were prepared entirely by chemical spray pyrolysis. Au nanoparticles (Au-NPs) were formed via thermal decomposition of a gold(III) chloride trihydrate (HAuCl4·3H2O) precursor by spraying 2 mmol/L of the aqueous precursor solution onto a substrate held at 260 °C. Current-voltage scans and external quantum efficiency spectra were used to evaluate the solar cell performance. This work investigates the effect of the location of the Au-NP layer deposition (front side vs rear side) in the solar cell and the effect of varying the volume (2.5-10 mL) of the sprayed Au precursor solution. A 63% increase (from 4.6 to 7.5 mA/cm(2)) of the short-circuit current density was observed when 2.5 mL of the precursor solution was deposited onto the rear side of the solar cell.

A green methodology for the synthesis of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) from coffee husk without the use of any toxic solvents is proposed in this work. Sonochemical exfoliation of biochar, obtained from the thermal carbonization of coffee husk (from a certified coffee seeds) at low temperature in an air-restricted atmosphere, is described as an alternative procedure for the sustainable production of CQDs. The synthesized CQDs exhibited blue fluorescence with a strong maximum emission band at 410 nm when excited at a maximum absorption wavelength of 330 nm.

ConspectusMolecular photoelectrocatalysis, which combines the merits of photocatalysis and organic electrosynthesis, including their green attributes and capacity to offer novel reactivity and selectivity, represents an emerging field in organic chemistry that addresses the growing demands for environmental sustainability and synthetic efficiency. This synergistic approach permits access to a wider range of redox potentials, facilitates redox transformations under gentler electrode potentials, and decreases the use of external harsh redox reagents. Despite these potential advantages, this area did not receive significant attention until 2019, when we and others reported the first examples of modern molecular photoelectrocatalysis.

A significant barrier to the commercialization of solution-processed perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is the chemical instability of the components in precursor solutions under ambient conditions. This instability leads to solution aging, which subsequently diminishes the quality and reproducibility of the resulting PSCs. Inspired by recent published works, which focused on the deprotonation of organic cations, the oxidation of iodide, and the formation of undesired byproducts, we here systematically summarize and provide an outlook on the research directions and perspectives of the origin of precursor solution aging and countermeasures, such as using stabilizing additives, redox shuttles, Schiff base reactions, and green solvents.
