Background/aim: The impact of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) on survival in patients with small hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is unclear. We compared their efficacy in cirrhotics with single HCC ≤2 cm.
Patients And Methods: Two hundred forty-four cirrhotics with single HCC ≤2 cm treated with PEI (108 cases) or RFA (136 cases) were enrolled in the study. Eighty-one patients in each group were selected for propensity score matching analysis.
Results: The five-year survival was not significantly different (64.7% in PEI and 72.9% in RFA group) but the 5-year recurrence (73.3% in PEI and 49% in RFA group, p=0.023) and local tumor progression (49% in PEI and 30.1% in RFA group, p=0.018) were higher in the PEI group.
Conclusion: PEI and RFA are equally effective in treating HCCs smaller than 2 cm in terms of 5-year survival, despite higher cumulative and local recurrence rates, in patients treated with PEI.

Background: The efficacy of microwave ablation (MWA) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with decompensated cirrhosis remains unclear.
Methods: A total of 315 patients with decompensated cirrhosis and HCC who underwent MWA or RFA were recruited. Recurrence beyond the Milan criteria (RBM), local tumor progression (LTP), overall survival (OS), and complications were evaluated and compared.

Background: Both radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and microwave ablation (MWA) are commonly used non-surgical treatment methods for lung cancer/lung metastases (LC/LM). However, there is still debate over which one is superior. The meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and safety between the two groups.

Both irreversible electroporation (IRE) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) are viable ablation methods for localized treatment of liver tumors. We conducted a meta-analysis to access the efficacy and safety of IRE and RFA in liver cancer treatment. Clinical studies on IRE and RFA for the treatment of liver cancer were collected from PubMed and CNKI until June 2023.

Background: The optimal radiofrequency application (RFa) parameters for safe and durable pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) are debated. High-power short-duration (HPSD) has been used as an alternative to conventional power delivery (CPD).
Objectives: This study sought to compare HPSD 70 W/9-10 s (HPSD-70) with CPD 25-40 W in patients undergoing PVI.
