Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is associated with structural alterations of lung vasculature. PAH is still a devastating disease needing an aggressive therapeutic approach. Despite the therapeutic potential of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), the molecular parameters to define the stemness remain largely unknown. Using high-density oligonucleotide microarrays, the differential gene expression profiles between a fraction of mononuclear cells of human umbilical cord blood (UCB) and its MSC subpopulation were obtained. Of particular interest was a subset of 46 genes preferentially expressed at 7-fold or higher in the group treated with human UCB-MSCs. This subset contained numerous genes involved in the inflammatory response, immune response, lipid metabolism, cell adhesion, cell migration, cell differentiation, apoptosis, cell growth, transport, cell proliferation, transcription, and signal transduction. Our results provide a foundation for a more reproducible and reliable quality control using genotypic analysis for the definition of human UCB-MSCs. Therefore, our results will provide a basis for studies on molecular mechanisms controlling the core properties of human MSCs.

Our objective is to determine the protein and complements constituents of Cord blood Platelet-rich plasma (CB-PRP), based on the hypothesis that it contains beneficial components capable of arresting or potentially decelerating the advancement of atrophic age-related macular degeneration (dry-AMD), with the support of radiomics. Two distinct pools of CB-PRP were assessed, each pool obtained from a total of 15 umbilical cord-blood donors. One aliquot of each pool respectively was subjected to proteomic analysis in order to enhance the significance of our findings, by identifying proteins that are shared between the two sample pools and gaining insights into the pathways they are associated with.

The escalating diabetes prevalence has heightened interest in innovative therapeutic strategies for this disease and its complications. Human amniotic epithelial stem cells (HAESCs), originate from the innermost layer of the placenta closest to the fetus and express stem cell markers in the amniotic membrane's umbilical cord attachment area, which have garnered significant attention. This article critically examines emerging research advancements and potential application values of hAESCs in treating diabetes and its complications.

Loss of periocular skin due to cancer, trauma, or surgery is a major reconstructive challenge; resultant tissue contracture can cause eyelid malposition with poor functional and aesthetic outcomes. We describe the successful use of cryopreserved umbilical cord amniotic membrane as a wound covering and scaffold for periorbital anterior lamellar defects. This is a retrospective case series of 4 patients (mean 21 years, range 9-30 years, 3 male) who underwent periocular reconstruction with umbilical cord amniotic membrane of 9 different sites.

Introduction: MRTX1133 is a selective and reversible small molecule inhibitor of KRAS (G12D), which significantly delays the progression of solid tumors. However, no study on the absorption, distribution, and excretion of MRTX1133.
Methods: A fast ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem quadrupole mass spectrometry method was developed for the determination of MRTX1133 in rat plasma, tissue homogenate, and urine.

Background: Due to the lack of effective treatment options, the prognosis of patients with relapsed/refractory acute myeloid leukemia (R/R AML) remains poor. Although chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T-cell therapy has shown promising effects in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and lymphoma, its application in R/R AML is limited by "off-target" effects, which lead to severe bone marrow suppression and limit its clinical application. CAR-natural killer (NK) cells not only exhibit antitumor effects but also demonstrate increased safety and universality.
