The 2-methoxy-4-methylsulfinylbenzyl alcohol (Mmsb-OH) safety-catch linker has been described as a useful tool to overcome two obstacles in peptide synthesis: the solubility and fragment condensation of peptides. The incorporation of the linker into an insoluble peptide target, thereby allowing the conjugation of a poly-Lys as a "solubilizing tag", notably enhanced the solubility of the peptide. The selective conditions that remove that linker favored its incorporation as a semipermanent C-terminal protecting group, thereby allowing fragment condensation of peptides.

Transgenic expression of a double-stranded RNA in plants can induce silencing of homologous mRNAs in fungal pathogens. Although such host-induced gene silencing is well documented, the molecular mechanisms by which RNAs can move from the cytoplasm of plant cells across the plasma membrane of both the host cell and fungal cell are poorly understood. Indirect evidence suggests that this RNA transfer may occur at a very early stage of the infection process, prior to breach of the host cell wall, suggesting that silencing RNAs might be secreted onto leaf surfaces.

Two borates, NaK[BO(OH)]·HO () and NaK[{BO}{BO}{BO(OH)}]·2HO () have been designed and made under solvothermal conditions. Compound exhibits a 2D fluctuant layer based on the [BO(OH)] clusters, containing two types of 9-membered ring (MR) channels and showing a four-connected sql topology net. By modifying the reactants and reaction temperature, compound was obtained from compound .

Ischemia/reperfusion injury (I/R) is a leading cause of acute kidney injury (AKI) in conditions like kidney transplants, cardiac surgeries, and nephrectomy, contributing to high global mortality and morbidity. This study aimed to analyze the protective effects of 2'-hydroxychalcones in treating I/R-induced AKI by targeting key pathological pathways. Considering strong antioxidant action along with other pharmacological roles of chalcone derivatives, six 2'-hydroxychalcones were synthesized via Claisen-Schmidt condensation and analyzed for their protective effects in an I/R induced AKI model using HK-2 cells.

Recent advances in nanotechnology, particularly those utilizing polymeric nanocomposites, have garnered significant attention for their effectiveness and biocompatibility in cancer diagnosis and treatment. In this study, a chitosan-okra mucilage polymeric nanocomposite doped with nano zero-valent iron (CS-OM-nZVI), synthesized using green chemistry principles, was evaluated for its anti-cancer activity against drug-resistant oral carcinoma cells (KBChR). The nanocomposite was created from chitosan, mucilage derived from okra biomass, and nano zerovalent iron particles synthesized through chemical reduction.
