Gradient fields of optical, magnetic, or electrical origin are widely used for the manipulation of micro- and nanoscale objects. Among various device geometries to generate gradient forces, sharp metallic tips are one of the most effective. Surface roughness and asperities present on traditionally produced tips reduce trapping efficiencies and limit plasmonic applications. Template-stripped, noble metal surfaces and structures have sub-nm roughness and can overcome these limits. We have developed a process using a mix of conductive and dielectric epoxies to mount template-stripped gold pyramids on tungsten wires that can be integrated with a movable stage. When coupled with a transparent indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode, the conductive pyramidal tip functions as a movable three-dimensional dielectrophoretic trap which can be used to manipulate submicrometer-scale particles. We experimentally demonstrate the electrically conductive functionality of the pyramidal tip by dielectrophoretic manipulation of fluorescent beads and concentration of single-walled carbon nanotubes, detected with fluorescent microscopy and Raman spectroscopy.

In order to solve the problems of high planting density, similar color, and serious occlusion between spikes in sorghum fields, such as difficult identification and detection of sorghum spikes, low accuracy and high false detection, and missed detection rates, this study proposes an improved sorghum spike detection method based on YOLOv8s. The method involves augmenting the information fusion capability of the YOLOv8 model's neck module by integrating the Gold feature pyramid module. Additionally, the SPPF module is refined with the LSKA attention mechanism to heighten focus on critical features.

Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering, Azrieli College of Engineering Jerusalem, Jerusalem 9103501, Israel. Electronic address:

Chlorhexidine (CHX) is a gold standard therapeutic agent against clinical oral pathogens. However, its oral use is limited due to unpleasant taste, alteration in taste buds, staining of teeth and mucous membranes. Therefore, CHX-loaded PLGA microneedles (MNs) were fabricated for local and controlled release in the oral cavity, using a casting mold method.

College of Optoelectronic Engineering, Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Technology and Systems, Ministry of Education, Key Disciplines Lab of Novel Micro-Nano Devices and System Technology, Chongqing University, Chongqing 400044, China.

In this study, we developed a novel digital surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) chip that integrates an inverted pyramid microcavity array, a microchannel cover plate, and a multilayer gold nanoparticle (AuNP) SERS substrate. This innovative design exploits the synergistic effects of the microcavity array and the microchannel to enable rapid and large-scale digital discretization of bacterial suspensions. The concentration effect of the picoliter cavities, combined with the superior Raman enhancement effect of the multilayer AuNP SERS substrate, allows for the precise identification of live bacteria within the microcavities through in situ and label-free SERS testing after a short incubation period.

Pnictogen Bonding at the Core of a Carbene-Stiborane-Gold Complex: Impact on Structure and Reactivity.

Our interest in the design of ambiphilic ligands and their coordination to gold has led us to synthesize an indazol-3-ylidene gold chloride complex functionalized at the 4-position of the indazole backbone by a stibine functionality. The antimony center of this new complex cleanly reacts with -chloranil to afford the corresponding stiborane derivative. Structural analysis indicates that the stiborane coordination environment is best described as a distorted square pyramid whose open face is oriented toward the gold center, allowing for the formation of a long donor-acceptor, or pnictogen, Au → Sb bonding interaction.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as promising biomarkers for acute myocardial infarction (AMI). There is an urgent imperative to develop analytical methodologies capable of intelligently discerning multiple circulating miRNAs. Here, we present a dual miRNA detection platform for AMI using DNA logic gates coupled with an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) response.
