BACKGROUND Iliac vein injuries usually require surgical intervention due to their high mortality rates. Although conservative management may be applicable in some cases of blunt trauma, the suitability of this approach for treating penetrating injuries remains underexplored. CASE REPORT A 51-year-old man sustained a common iliac vein injury following rectal impalement in a collapsing chair.

Pulmonary hypertension is a known perioperative risk factor that carries a high morbidity and mortality rate. Severe pulmonary hypertension is related to high morbidity after general anaesthesia. We are reporting three patients with underlying severe pulmonary hypertension, who presented with intestinal obstruction managed with different perioperative approaches.

Unlabelled: In rural Crete, Greece, a mummified body was discovered inside a screw-top plastic barrel next to a dry riverbed. Local authorities conducted a field investigation along with a forensic pathologist, and the body was transferred inside the barrel to the Forensic Medicine Unit of the University of Crete for further investigation. Forensic examination included radiographs taken using a portable X-ray machine followed by extraction of the remains, a full-body postmortem computed tomography scan, autopsy, DNA extraction, tissue and biofluid sampling, and histological and toxicological analyses.

Background: Segmental mandibulectomy and reconstruction of resulting defect can be performed via intraoral approach (IOA) or extraoral approach (EOA). Both approaches have advantages, disadvantages, indications, and contraindications to consider during their selection.
Objective: To compare IOA vs EOA of segmental mandibulectomy and microvascular reconstruction with fibula free flap (FFF).

Background: People with Parkinson's disease (PD) have impaired upper limb motor coordination, limiting the execution of activities of daily living. This study investigated the feasibility and safety of a short-term Pilates-based exercise program in the treatment of upper limb motor coordination for people with PD.
Methods: Fifteen patients - n (%) 4 women/11 men (27/73), median [interquartile range] age 66 [9] years - participated in this quasi-experimental (before-and-after) clinical trial.
