Background: The 2014-2016 Ebola epidemic was largely restricted to the three nations of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, yet it tested the world's ability to address a potential global pandemic. This study provides an in-depth examination of the role of emotions in the response to the outbreak and engagement with public health measures, and the contextual factors which influenced them.
Methods: Historical research methods were utilised in the examination of primary and secondary sources.

Reel syndrome is a pacemaker lead early dislodgment, characterized by reeling-in of the lead(s) without being damaged. We herein present a case of an 86-year-old woman, with medical history of single chamber pacemaker implantation two years ago, admitted in cardiology department with complete AV block. Chest-Xray revealed ventricular lead coiling around and behind the pacemaker device.

For years, experts have warned that a global pandemic was only a matter of time. Indeed, over the past two decades, several outbreaks and pandemics, from SARS to Ebola, have tested our ability to respond to a disease threat and provided the opportunity to refine our preparedness systems. However, when a novel coronavirus with human-to-human transmissibility emerged in China in 2019, many of these systems were found lacking.

I only knew of one person who had voted for Brexit! I had seen a few Leave posters up whilst out cycling and the opinion polls showed only a small difference, but none the less, I was hugely surprised. A neighbour reassured me that a deal would be struck so that we would fi nd a nice arrangement amounting to a modest change, but the last two years have shown the value of his insights.
