This case report presents the management of a female patient with unilateral cleft lip and palate presenting with skeletal Class III malocclusion and a narrow upper dental arch with a midline deviation. The treatment plan involved asymmetric transverse distraction osteogenesis of the maxilla to make the upper dental midline coincident with the facial midline. After the treatment, a good facial profile and a close intercuspation of teeth were achieved. Occlusion remained stable with normal overjet and overbite after 2-year retention.

As one of the most influential environmental factors, light fundamentally shapes plant physiology and growth traits. The hypocotyl is critical for the morphological establishment of the seedling, and its length displays remarkable plasticity upon perception of changes in the light conditions. Although remodeling of the primary cell walls is well-documented to play an important role in hypocotyl growth, how the hypocotyl elongation rate is swiftly repressed at the dark-to-light transition remains elusive.

Background/objectives: The active straight leg raise requires intricate coordination between the hip, knee, pelvis, and spine. Despite its complexity, limited research has explored the relationship between lower limb raising velocity and trunk muscle motor control during an active straight leg raise in healthy individuals. This study aimed to explore the potential effects of increased lower limb raising velocity on core muscle contractions during active straight leg raises.

The mechanical properties of the human skull have been examined and established previously in the literature, for example, the transversal isotropy of cranial bone and properties including the Elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio. However, despite the existing data, there are still mechanical properties which remain to be determined for the human skull. The present study aims to characterise the fracture properties of human cranial bone within the Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics (LEFM) framework.

Multidimensional manipulation of photonic spin Hall effect (PSHE) has attracted considerable interest due to its potential in a wide variety of spin-based applications. Plenty of research efforts have been devoted to transverse or longitudinal spin-dependent splitting; however, the splitting pattern that can self-rotate in a three-dimensional (3-D) space appears to be missing in literature. In this paper, we introduce a novel 3-D rotational PSHE, which can be realized and tuned using well-designed Pancharatnam-Berry phase metasurfaces.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the anatomical variations and morphometric characteristics of the sulci in the dural venous sinuses within the intracranial cavity, with a particular focus on sex differences and asymmetry.
Methods: Thirty fixed cadaveric heads were used to measure the dimensions (length, width, and depth) and spatial relationships of the dural venous sinus sulci within the intracranial cavity, including the distance to the midline, distance to each other, and lateral margin of the skull. Comparisons were made between sexes and sides of the body.
