A facile method to prepare the nonspherical amphiphilic random copolymer of poly(styrene-co-methacrylic acid) (poly(St-co-PMAA)) latex particles with well-defined shapes and high yields by one-step batch emulsifier-free polymerization was demonstrated. In our strategy, only varying the molar ratio of styrene (St) to methacrylic acid (MAA), no seed-particles, no cross-linker, and no multistep control procedures were needed. Due to the presence of carboxyl groups on the surface of (poly(St-co-PMAA) latex particles, these latex particles can be used as templates for fabricating core-shell nonspherical functional materials, such as poly(St-co-PMAA)@SiO2 and poly(St-co-PMAA)@polypyrrole). The corresponding nonspherical hollow structures (SiO2 and polypyrrole) could be obtained after removal of the templates. In addition, poly(St-co-PMAA) latex particles exhibit interesting morphologies in ethanol.

The development of monodisperse hybrid silica microspheres with highly regular pore structure and uniform distribution of functional groups have significant value in the biomolecular separation field. In this work, the short range ordered pore channels are precisely constructed onto the non-porous silica microsphere surface by a bi-phase assembly method, and the cylindrical silica channel introduced a plethora of vinyl groups by "one-pot" co-condensation to form vinyl hybrid silica shell. As hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) stationary phase, the vinyl hybrid core-shell silica microsphere is simply modified with zwitterion glutathione (SiO@SiO-GSH), in which the HILIC enrichment process is significantly shortened due to its specific porous characteristics.

Mycotoxins are detectable in 60-80% of food crops, posing significant threats to human health and food security, and causing substantial economic losses. Most mitigation approaches focus on detecting mycotoxins with standard methods based on liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Typical MS methods require extensive sample preparation and clean-up due to the matrix effect, followed by time-consuming LC separation, complicating the analysis process and limiting analytical throughput.

Background/objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop the gemcitabine-loaded drug-eluting beads (G-DEBs) for transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) in rabbit renal tumors and to evaluate their antitumor effect using 2-deoxy-2-[(18)F]fluoro-D-glucose positron emission tomography/X-ray computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT).
Methods: DEBs were prepared by polyvinyl alcohol-based macromer crosslinked with -acryl tyrosine and ,'-methylenebis(acrylamide). Gemcitabine was loaded through ion change to obtain G-DEBs.

In this study, the fabrication of magnetic hemicellulosic composite microspheres and the adsorption of copper ions are explored. The microspheres were prepared by the micro-emulsion technique, using FeO nanoparticles and hemicellulose extracted from wheat straw with the ionic liquid B[mim]Cl as a solvent. FeO nanoparticles, synthesized through coprecipitation, were evenly encapsulated within the hemicellulosic microspheres.
