Purpose: To describe warning signs, monitoring tools, and training- and non-training-related actions taken by world-class endurance coaches in cases of underperformance.
Methods: Twelve highly acclaimed male Norwegian coaches known for coaching world-class endurance athletes with a remarkable collection of over 350 Olympic, World, and European Championship medals-primarily with Norwegian athletes-participated in the study. Data collection and analyses followed a 3-step pragmatic qualitative study design, including an initial questionnaire, in-depth interviews, and structured negotiation between researchers and coaches.

In this study, we explored the relationship between developmental differences in gray matter structure and grammar learning ability in 159 Dutch-speaking individuals (8 to 25 yr). The data were collected as part of a recent large-scale functional MRI study (Menks WM, Ekerdt C, Lemhöfer K, Kidd E, Fernández G, McQueen JM, Janzen G. Developmental changes in brain activation during novel grammar learning in 8-25-year-olds.

Background: Infections are common complications and causes of death during immunochemotherapy in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The gut microbiota plays a significant role in bacterial infection, but its relationship and predictive capacity with infectious complications in DLBCL are unknown.
Methods: We performed 16S rRNA gene sequencing of fecal samples collected from 41 patients with newly diagnosed DLBCL at baseline, after every two cycles of standard immunochemotherapy, during infection, and after infection recovery.
Unlabelled: Variably protease-sensitive prionopathy (VPSPr) is a rare, atypical subtype of prion disease in which many patients exhibit a family history of dementia. Rare protein-coding variants in , which are causal for all known forms of genetic prion disease, have been ruled out in all VPSPr cases to date, leading to suspicion that VPSPr could be caused by variants in other genes or by non-coding variation in or near . We performed exome sequencing and targeted sequencing of non-coding regions on genomic DNA from autopsy-confirmed VPSPr patients (N=67) in order to search for a possible genetic cause.

Subterranean estuaries (STEs) are critical ecosystems at the interface of meteoric groundwater and subsurface seawater that are threatened by sea level rise. To characterize the influence of tides and waves on the STE microbial community, we collected porewater samples from a high-energy beach STE at Stinson Beach, California, USA, over the two-week neap-spring tidal transition during both a wet and dry season. The microbial community, analyzed by 16S rRNA gene (V4) amplicon sequencing, clustered according to consistent physicochemical features found within STEs.
