Graphene can be synthesized from polyacrylonitrile (PAN) polymer through pyrolysis. A metal catalyst such as nickel (Ni) is required for the conversion of the polymer to graphene. The metal catalysts can be placed either atop or underneath the polymer precursor. We observed that spatially non-uniform and disconnected graphene was fabricated when PAN film coated with a Ni layer was pyrolyzed, resulting in flake-like graphene. Formation of the flake-like graphene is attributed to the dewetting of the Ni layer coated on the PAN film. Dewetting phenomenon can be reduced by decreasing the pyrolysis temperature, and hence, more uniform graphene could be prepared. The effects of Ni coating thickness and the pyrolysis temperature on the fabricated graphene have been experimentally analyzed.

A sonication assisted method was employed to prepare a graphene oxide (GO)/sulfur doped carbon nitride (SCN) nanocomposite, demonstrating enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to GO and SCN. Extensive characterization confirmed the improved properties of the nanocomposite. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) results indicated that the SCN lattice remained intact upon GO addition while Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) revealed chemical interaction between GO and SCN.

In this work, we have focused on the preparation of copper hexacyanoferrate/boron doped rGO composites (abbreviated as CuHCF/B-rGO) by employing simple co-precipitation technique subsequently processed with ultrasonication method. The XRD spectra confirmed the existence of the cubic structure of copper hexacyanoferrate with high crystalline peaks. The prepared nanocomposite morphology was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and confirmed CuHCF nanoparticles formation with flake-like and wrinkled sheets.

The use of Chloramphenicol (CAP), a potent antibiotic with broad-spectrum capabilities in food-producing animals has been restricted by the European Union and several other countries due to its severe side effects. Thus, CAP must be detected quickly and sensitively. In this investigation, the preparation of SrTiO nanoparticles was carried out utilizing a hydrothermal technique.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is an effective technique for biosensing, enabling label-free detection of biomolecules with enhanced sensitivity. There is a tremendous probability of signal failure in Raman frequencies because of the scattering of the Raman radiation in liquids, effective SERS improvement is required to reduce this issue when considering liquid specimens. We examined a liquid bacterial sample, investigating the electrostatic interactions of the bacterial samples with gold nanorods (AuNRs) and graphene.

New electrode architectures promise huge potential for improving batteries' electrochemical properties, such as power density, energy density, and lifetime. In this work, the use of laser-induced forward transfer (LIFT) was employed and evaluated as a tool for the development of advanced electrode architectures. For this purpose, it was first confirmed that the printing process has no effect on the transferred battery material by comparing the electrochemical performance of the printed anodes with state-of-the-art coated ones.
