Efficacy of anidulafungin is driven by the area under the concentration-time curve (AUC)/MIC ratio. Determination of the anidulafungin AUC along with MIC values can therefore be useful. Since obtaining a full concentration-time curve to determine an AUC is not always feasible or appropriate, limited-sampling strategies may be useful in adequately estimating exposure. The objective of this study was to develop a model to predict the individual anidulafungin exposure in critically ill patients using limited-sampling strategies. Pharmacokinetic data were derived from 20 critically ill patients with invasive candidiasis treated with anidulafungin. These data were used to develop a two-compartment model in MW\Pharm using an iterative 2-stage Bayesian procedure. Limited-sampling strategies were subsequently investigated using two methods, a Bayesian analysis and a linear regression analysis. The best possible strategies for these two methods were evaluated by a Bland-Altman analysis for correlation of the predicted and observed AUC from 0 to 24 h (AUC0-24) values. Anidulafungin exposure can be adequately estimated with the concentration from a single sample drawn 12 h after the start of the infusion either by linear regression (R2=0.99; bias, 0.05%; root mean square error [RMSE], 3%) or using a population pharmacokinetic model (R2=0.89; bias, -0.1%; RMSE, 9%) in critically ill patients and also in less severely ill patients, as reflected by healthy volunteers. Limited sampling can be advantageous for future studies evaluating the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of anidulafungin and for therapeutic drug monitoring in selected patients. Objectives: To explore American Muslims' perceptions and experiences regarding hospice care within the United States.
Methods: A qualitative descriptive study of 11 participants, including one patient and ten family caregivers. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using a framework approach to identify key themes related to perceptions, ethical concerns, and experiences with hospice care.

Background: Patients with obesity are at high-risk of extubation failure. Discrepancies were found in the results of recent randomized controlled trials (RCTs) regarding the roles of noninvasive ventilation (NIV), high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and conventional oxygen therapy (COT) to prevent extubation failure in critically ill patients with obesity.
Methods: In this systematic review and network meta-analysis, we searched MEDLINE, Cochrane Center Register of Controlled Trials and Web of Science from 1 January 1998 to 1 July 2024 for RCTs evaluating noninvasive respiratory support therapies (NIV, HFNC, COT, NIV + HFNC) after extubation in critically ill adults with obesity.

Background: Fluid management is a crucial critical care component, influencing outcomes such as organ function, renal integrity, and survival in critically ill patients. Recent evidence suggests that balanced crystalloids may offer advantages over isotonic saline, particularly in reducing the risk of acute kidney injury (AKI) and other complications. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of balanced crystalloids versus isotonic saline on clinical outcomes in the intensive care unit (ICU), focusing on AKI, renal replacement therapy (RRT), and mortality.

Background: Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a rare, life-threatening hyperinflammatory syndrome marked by excessive immune activation. It can be triggered by various factors, including infections, malignancies, and autoimmune diseases, making the diagnosis challenging due to its overlap with other severe conditions.
Case Reports: We discuss two intensive care unit (ICU) cases illustrating the diverse manifestations of HLH and the critical importance of early recognition and treatment.

Context: The coexistence of tuberculosis (TB) and mental disorder presents a daunting public health challenge. Studies suggest that TB patients often experience co-morbid mental health problems, highlighting a dual burden of illness. However, due to limited research in Gujarat, we cannot draw definitive conclusions or develop targeted mental health interventions for this population.
