Torsion of lobes of the lung is a rare complication following lung transplantation. We present a case of counterclockwise torsion of the right lung allograft and review of nine additional cases in the literature of lobar torsion following lung transplantation. A high degree of suspicion is needed for early diagnosis with rapid surgical intervention to preserve lung viability.

Chronic respiratory disorders are the third leading cause of mortality globally. Consequently, there is a continuous pursuit of effective therapies beyond those currently available. The therapeutic potential of the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide/GLP-1 (GIP/GLP-1) receptor agonists extends beyond the regulation of glycemia, including glucometabolic, cardiovascular, and renal effects, rendering them viable candidates, due to their mechanisms of action, for the possible treatment of respiratory disorders.

In recent decades, the advantages of minimizing surgical trauma have led to the development of minimally invasive surgical procedures. While the benefits often outweigh the risks, several challenges are encountered that are not present in conventional surgical approaches. Unilateral pulmonary edema (UPE) after mitral interventions performed through a right-sided approach is a rare but potentially life-threatening event.

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) significantly increases the risk of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNST), a rare and aggressive malignancy for which treatment is clinically challenging. This paper presents the case of a 24-year-old male with an NF1 who developed MPNST with lung metastases. Due to the limited effectiveness of systemic therapy in the treatment of MPNST, the patient underwent radical surgical resection and radiotherapy.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is the most common type of fibrosis in lungs, characterized as a chronic and progressive interstitial lung disease involving pathological findings of fibrosis with a median survival of 3 years. Despite the knowledge accumulated regarding IPF from basic and clinical research, an effective medical therapy for the condition remains to be established. Thus, it is necessary for further research, including stem cell therapy, which will provide new insights into and expectations for IPF treatment.
