Geographical origin and authenticity of food are topics of interest for both consumers and producers. Among the different indicators used for traceability studies, (87)Sr/(86)Sr isotopic ratio has provided excellent results. In this study, two analytical approaches for wine sample pre-treatment, microwave and low temperature mineralisation, were investigated to develop accurate and precise analytical method for (87)Sr/(86)Sr determination. The two procedures led to comparable results (paired t-test, with t

In this research, a green approach utilizing deep eutectic solvent liquid-liquid microextraction is combined with smartphone digital image colorimetry for the determination of boron in nut samples. A smartphone camera was used to capture the image of the analyte extract located in a custom-made colorimetric box. Using ImageJ software, the images were split into RGB channels, with the green channel identified as the optimum.

A new methodology is presented for the rapid, specific, and sensitive detection of irinotecan (CPT-11), a chemotherapeutic agent utilized in the treatment of cancer, along with its metabolically active derivative, SN-38, via laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (LDI MS). The method includes the detection of camptothecin (CPT), which can be utilized as an internal standard for the quantitative assessment of both CPT-11 and SN-38 in mouse serum. The approach utilizes a plasmonic two-dimensional (2D) black phosphorus nanosheet (BPN)-gold nanomatrix (BP@Au) in LDI MS.

Observational studies assessing causal effects of interventions are subject to indication (selection) bias, which may be difficult to eliminate using traditional multivariable techniques. When properly specified, propensity score-adjusted analysis may offer an advantage traditional regression by ensuring that investigators explicitly assess comparability of baseline prognostic factors between the treated and untreated. However, it is important to note that the effectiveness of a propensity score-adjusted analysis depends on the variables selected for the model and the analytic approach.

In the present research, an attempt has been made to develop a new thin film microextraction method for the extraction of several polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from aqueous samples collected from different industrial units prior to their analysis by gas chromatography combined with a flame ionization detector. In this approach, a thin iron mesh was modified by the formation of iron(II) oxinate on its surface and used for the extraction of analytes without an additional sorbent. For this purpose, first, the mesh was immersed in a sulfuric acid solution and then transferred into an 8-hydroxy quinoline (oxine) solution dissolved in ammonia solution.

Background: Public reporting of home health care agencies' performance metrics, including patient satisfaction, care processes, and health outcomes, aims to inform customer decisions and encourage agencies to improve the quality of services. However, there is limited research that examines the heterogeneous performance of home health care agencies.
Purposes: The aim of this study was to analyze the performance of home health care agencies by identifying distinct subgroups of agencies with similar performance profiles and describing the relationships between agency characteristics and such subgroups.
