A dye-sensitized solar cell based on a spray deposited zinc oxide (ZnO) photoanode with Evans blue as a sensitizer was fabricated. Structural analysis confirms the hexagonal wurtzite phase of the ZnO photoanode with c-axis orientation. Surface morphology of the ZnO photoanode shows uniform distribution of spherically-shaped grains, ranging from 18 nm to 25 nm. The power conversion efficiency of the device was measured as 0.1%. Density functional theory was adopted to study the observed photovoltaic performance of the fabricated device. The analysis of the electronic properties of Evans blue dye showed that it has a pronounced effect on the observed device performance.

The present study demonstrates the synthesis of compact ZnO layers using CdS sensitized on ZnO as a photoanode with copper sulfide (CuS) and carbon as a counter electrode (CE). In this study, a compact ZnO layer was fabricated using the simple and low-cost successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method, and CuS CE films were synthesized using the chemical bath deposition method. Various characterizations, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), confirmed the formation of ZnO and CdS sensitizations on the ZnO .

Fumonisin B1 (FB1), the most prevalent and highly toxic mycotoxin within the fumonisins family, poses threats to humans, especially in children and infants, even at trace levels. Therefore, it is essential to design an easy and sensitive detection strategy. Herein, a brand-new dual-photoelectrode photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing platform for FB1 detection under near-infrared irradiation was unveiled.

In this study, we developed well-aligned ZnO nanoflowers coated with poly-10,12-pentacosadiyonic acid (p-PCDA@ZnO) and modified with Pt nanoparticle (Pt/p-PCDA@ZnO) hybrid photoanodes for highly efficient photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) image shows that thin films of the p-PCDA layer were well coated on the ZnO nanoflowers and that Pt nanoparticles were on it. The photoelectrochemical characterizations were made under simulated solar irradiation AM 1.

Diminishing the charge recombination rate by improving the photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance of graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN) is essential for better water oxidation. In this concern, this research explores the competent approach to enhance the PEC performance of g-CN nanosheets (NSs), creating their nanocomposites (NCs) with metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived porous CeO nanobars (NBs) along with ZnO nanorods (NRs) and TiO nanoparticles (NPs). The synthesis involved preparing CeO NBs and g-CN NSs through the calcination of respective precursors, while the sol-gel method is employed for ZnO NRs and TiO NPs.
