Article Abstract
Sarcoidosis is a granulomatous disorder of unknown etiology involving multiple organ systems. Isolated neurosarcoidosis is exceedingly rare. This case report presents isolated trigeminal nerve sarcoidosis mimicking schwannoma in a patient presenting with symptoms of trigeminal neuralgia. Neuroimaging revealed a mass associated with trigeminal nerve which prospectively thought to represent schwannoma. However, surgical pathology was consistent with sarcoidosis. Given great overlap in imaging characteristic of tumors in the Meckel's cave intraoperative frozen section biopsy may be considered to rule out an inflammatory lesion.

Background: In the face of inevitable declines in alertness and fatigue resulting from sleep deprivation, effective countermeasures are essential for maintaining performance. External trigeminal nerve stimulation (eTNS) presents a potential avenue for regulating alertness by activating the locus coeruleus and reticular activating system.
Methods: Here, we conducted a within-subject study with 66 habitual nappers, subjecting them to afternoon nap-deprivation and applying either 20-minute of 120 Hz eTNS or sham stimulation.

The trigeminal ganglion is a critical structure in the peripheral nervous system, responsible for transmitting sensations of touch, pain, and temperature from craniofacial regions to the brain. Trigeminal ganglion development depends upon intrinsic cellular programming as well as extrinsic signals exchanged by diverse cell populations. With its complex anatomy and dual cellular origin from cranial placodes and neural crest cells, the trigeminal ganglion offers a rich context for examining diverse biological processes, including cell migration, fate determination, adhesion, and axon guidance.

Background: Glossopharyngeal neuralgia (GPN) is a rare condition typically manifesting as paroxysms of sharp, lancinating pain localized to the middle ear and auditory canal, base of the tongue, tonsillar fossa, and region just inferior to the angle of the mandible. Vascular compression is a common etiology, and microvascular decompression (MVD) has been established as a safe and efficacious treatment in adults. With the exception of one report of an adult patient undergoing the procedure for symptomatology that began in adolescence, there are no published cases of MVD for GPN in pediatric patients to the author's knowledge.

Nerves are often overlooked as key components of the tumor microenvironment. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the reciprocal interactions between tumors and nerves remain largely unknown. In this study, we analyzed data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and identified a significant association between DKK1 expression and poor prognosis, as well as a correlation between DKK1 expression and myeloid-derived suppressor cell (MDSC) infiltration in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), two cancer types characterized by pronounced tumor-nerve interactions.
