Objective: The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of artificial high- and low-density materials on Bone mineral density (BMD)scans in dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) method and emergence of black-hole artifact through GATE Monte Carlo simulation.

Materials And Methods: GATE Monte Carlo code was utilized to simulate the artifact encountered in clinical scans acquired by HOLOGIC bone densitometer. Two simplified phantoms were designed.

Vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) has been described as an alternative minimal invasive approachfor treating various gynecological and non-gynecological pathologies. The aim was to compare the surgical time between conventional vaginal hysterectomy combined with USLS and vNOTES hysterectomy combined with USLS.

To enhance immunomodulatory effects of lyophilized probiotics, we screened a new lyophilizing protective agent, that is Wolfiporia cocos polysaccharide (WP). This study demonstrated WP significantly increased the survival rate among seven polysaccharides, with the optimal dosage being 10 % (w/v). The ratio of bacterial suspension to lyophilizing protective agent was 1:2, in the condition, the probiotic survival rate of probiotics reached 83.

Article Synopsis
  • Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) is a type of vasculitis that causes skin rashes, joint pain, abdominal issues, and can affect the kidneys.
  • A 41-year-old man was diagnosed with HSP after experiencing purplish skin lesions and abdominal pain, with tests showing no low platelet count but some blood in his urine.
  • His HSP was linked to recent use of the medication lisinopril, and after stopping the medication and starting corticosteroids, his condition improved significantly.

Arterial delivery to the kidney offers significant potential for targeted accumulation and retention of cells, genetic material, and drugs, both in free and encapsulated forms, because the entire dose passes through the vessels feeding this organ during the first circulation of blood. At the same time, a detailed study on the safety and effectiveness of developed therapies in a large number of experimental animals is required. Small laboratory animals, especially mice, are the most sought-after in experimental and preclinical testing due to their cost-effectiveness.
