It is shown that the transport (TR) model may be equivalent to the equilibrium dispersive (ED) model in analytical gradient liquid chromatography when the column efficiency is not small. This result is obtained by assuming that the gradient profile is not distorted, the injection is an impulse, and the apparent axial dispersion coefficient (Da) of the ED model or the lumped kinetic coefficient (kfL) of the TR model varies with mobile phase composition. According to this equivalence, the plate height equation derived from the TR model in our previous work (Eq. (91) in Hao et al., 2013) is also suited for the ED model. This conclusion is confirmed by comparing the equation with the results obtained by Gritti and Guiochon from the ED model (Gritti and Guiochon, 2012).

A highly efficient and widely applicable adsorbent for the removal of methylene blue (MB) was created using nitrogen-doped and reduced graphene oxide (NRGO). The effects of NRGO mass, pH, contact time, and the initial MB concentration on the adsorption properties of MB onto NRGO were investigated. The results showed that the adsorption behavior remained stable within the pH range of 2.

Radioactive particles are physically discrete sources of radioactivity that have been released into the environment as result of past accidents, incidents, and practices, and can present a hazard to members of the public. The historical use of radium in the luminising of aircraft components, and the subsequent decommissioning of those aircraft and associated waste disposal practices, has left a legacy of contamination, such as the radioactive particles containing Ra-226 at Dalgety Bay, Scotland. The aim of this research was to physically, chemically, and radiologically characterise Ra-226 particles from Dalgety Bay and consider the implications for radiological protection of the public.

Developing orally administered pediatric formulations presents significant challenges due to the unique characteristics of pediatric patients. Terbinafine hydrochloride (TER), a powerful antifungal agent, is effective against various fungal infections, including Tinea capitis, which is common in children. However, its low aqueous solubility necessitates innovative pharmaceutical strategies to enhance its effectiveness.

Transition-metal layered double hydroxides are widely utilized as electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), undergoing dynamic transformation into active oxyhydroxides during electrochemical operation. Nonetheless, our understanding of the non-equilibrium structural changes that occur during this process remains limited. In this study, utilizing in situ energy-dispersive X-ray absorption spectroscopy and machine learning analysis, we reveal the occurrence of deprotonation and elucidate the role of incorporated iron in facilitating the transition from nickel-iron layered double hydroxide (NiFe LDH) into its active oxyhydroxide.

This report investigates the preparation, characterization, and application of activated carbon derived from Spathodea campanulata flowers (SCAC) to remove Congo Red (CR) dye from aqueous streams. SCAC was synthesized using orthophosphoric acid activation which yielded a mesoporous material with a specific surface area of (986.41 m/g), significantly exceeding values reported for flower-derived activated carbons in the available literature.
