Purpose: Obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is the most common sleep-related breathing disorder. Longer term, repeated episodes of hypercapnia and hypoxemia during sleep are associated with inflammatory and atherosclerosis-related factors. Background: Previous studies showed a high conversion rate and failure of restrictive procedures, including sleeve gastrectomy (SG), adjustable gastric banding (AGB), gastric plication (GP), and vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) in a long-term follow-up.
