Allele-specific polymerase chain reaction (AS-PCR) is a technique based on allele-specific primers, which can be used to analyze single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) effectively including the transition, transversion and insertion/deletion polymorphism and has been exploited in the study of diseases research, molecular diagnosis, and forensic biological evidence. The article systematically reviews the principle, the detection methods, improvement of AS-PCR, and its research updates in the fields of autosome, Y chromosome and mitochondrial SNP, as well as its application in forensic science.

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI), surface-assisted laser desorption/ionization (SALDI), and time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOFMS) imaging are used for visualizing the spatial distribution of analytes. Mass spectrometry (MS) imaging of a sample with a rough surface with a uniform distribution of an analyte does not provide uniform ion intensities in the image. A shift in the value of the analyte ions is also observed.

Although the concept of trauma-related shame has been well defined and applied in psychology, the direct application to nursing care for victims of sexual assault is unclear.
Objective: The aim of this study was to perform an interdisciplinary concept analysis to clarify and synthesize the concept of trauma-related shame as it relates to interpersonal assault.

The recent surge in popularity of cannabidiol-infused products extends beyond food and supplements to the cosmetic industry. Accurate labeling remains a significant concern, as many products fail to meet advertised cannabidiol content and/or contain psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol above the permissible levels. In this work, we present the use of an HPLC-UV-MS/MS method for the quantification of five major cannabinoids (cannabidiol, cannabidiolic acid, tetrahydrocannabinol, tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, and cannabigerol) in oil-in-water cosmetic emulsions.

Dental age estimation, as an important part of forensic anthropology, has a wide range of applications for its results in legal practice. Given the lowered legal age for criminal responsibility in China and the increasing juvenile delinquency, we establish a morphological database targeting the second (M2) and third molars (M3) of the Southern Chinese population. Full mouth orthopantomography from 1486 individuals aged 8.

Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is a sympathetic neurotransmitter widely distributed in the peripheral and central nervous system, affecting many physiological functions. Consequently, dysregulation of the NPY system contributes to numerous pathological disorders, including stress, obesity, and cancer. The pleiotropic functions of NPY in humans are mediated by G protein-coupled receptors (Y1R, Y2R, Y5R), which activate several signaling pathways and thereby regulate cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis, proliferation, angiogenesis, and metabolism.
