To optimize the design of ITER vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) spectrometer, a prototype VUV spectrometer was developed. The sensitivity calibration curve of the spectrometer was calculated from the mirror reflectivity, the grating efficiency, and the detector efficiency. The calibration curve was consistent with the calibration points derived in the experiment using the calibrated hollow cathode lamp. For the application of the prototype ITER VUV spectrometer, the prototype spectrometer was installed at KSTAR, and various impurity emission lines could be measured. By analyzing about 100 shots, strong positive correlation between the O VI and the C IV emission intensities could be found.

Elucidating the mutual effects between the different volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is crucial for comprehending the formation mechanism of atmospheric secondary organic aerosols (SOA). Here, the mixed VOCs experiments of isoprene and Δ-carene/β-caryophyllene were carried out in the presence of O using an indoor smog chamber. The suppression effect of isoprene was recognized by the scanning mobility particle sizer spectrometer, online vacuum ultraviolet free electron laser (VUV-FEL) photoionization aerosol mass spectrometry, and quantum chemical calculations.

Formic and acetic acids are the most abundant gaseous organic acids and play the key role in the atmospheric chemistry. In iodine-adduct chemical ionization mass spectrometry (CIMS), the low utilization efficiency of methyl iodide and humidity interference are two major issues of the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) lamp initiated CIMS for on-line gaseous formic and acetic acids analysis. In this work, we present a new CIMS based on VUV lamp, and the ion-molecular reactor is separated into photoionization and chemical ionization zones by a reducer electrode.
