Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness of a visual score for identifying cingulate island sign (CIS) in differentiating Lewy body disease (LBD) from Alzheimer's disease (AD) using brain imaging.
  • The results indicate that patients with LBD have higher CIS scores compared to those with AD, showing notable differences in brain metabolism patterns.
  • Although the CIS scale shows good agreement among specialists, lower sensitivity is observed in mild cases of LBD and atypical presentations of AD, suggesting the need for careful interpretation in mixed diagnoses.

Objectives: To test the hypothesis that recently-developed total body-positron emission tomography (TB-PET) imaging with integrated computed tomography (CT) will enable low-dose, quantitative, domain-specific evaluation of the total inflammatory burden of psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and associate with established outcome measures of the clinical domains of PsA.

Methods: Seventy-one adult participants (40 with PsA, 16 with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and 15 with osteoarthritis (OA)) underwent 20-min TB-PET/CT scans using [18F]FDG, a glucose analogue radiotracer. [18F]FDG uptake was assessed qualitatively and quantitatively.

Background: [F]FDG PET/CT has been widely used as a diagnostic tool in detection and localization of recurrent non-avid radioiodine lesions in post-operative differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) patients with elevated serum thyroglobulin but negative radioiodine whole-body scan (TENIS) syndrome. The aim of our study was to evaluate the role of [F]FDG PET/CT in prediction on outcomes of these DTC patients.

Methods: Post-operative DTC patients with TENIS syndrome were collected in the department of nuclear medicine, Hospital 108 from 2019 to 2023.

Mesothelioma is a malignant tumor associated primarily with asbestos exposure, characterized by an aggressive nature and poor prognosis. Accurate diagnosis, staging, and monitoring of therapeutic response are crucial for effective patient management. Along with a computed tomography (CT) scan, fluorodeoxyglucose labeled with fluorine-18 ([F]FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) is commonly used in mesothelioma evaluation.

Objectives: Optimal imaging of ischemic or inflammed myocardium via F-FDG PET imaging requires suppression of background carbohydrate metabolism in normal myocardium. Sole administration of intravenous lipid emulsion has not previously been used to rapidly prepare unfasted patients, such as in emergent clinical situations. In this proof-of-concept pilot, we posited that intravenous fat emulsion suppresses physiological metabolic uptake of in non-ischemic, non-inflammatory myocardium in unprepared and unfasted setting for enhanced cardiac positron emission tomography (PET) imaging.
