Published: November 2014

Essential thrombocytosis (ET) is a type of myeloproliferative neoplasm with clinical manifestations of thrombosis and hemorrhage, the mechanisms of which remains unclear. Some researches indicated that ET is mainly related to the defect of platelet function and the abnormality of coagulation mechanism. A few reports showed that ET accompanied by acquired hemophilia. However, no evidence of ET with coagulation factor XII deficiency has been published. we here report a case of ET accompanied with coagulation factor XII deficiency, which had clinically significant bleeding tendency.

Background: This study aims to elucidate the expression pattern of SERPINE1, assess its prognostic significance, and explore potential therapeutic drugs targeting this molecule.

Methods And Results: In this study, we delved into the variations in gene mutation, methylation patterns, and expression levels of SERPINE1 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and normal tissues, leveraging comprehensive analyses of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets. The connection between the biological function of the gene and prognosis was scrutinized through immune infiltration and enrichment analyses.

Background: Neurodegeneration due to neurotoxicity is one of the phenomena in temporal lobe epilepsy. Experimentally, hippocampal excitotoxicity process can occur due to kainic acid exposure, especially in the CA3 area. Neuronal death, astrocyte reactivity and increased calcium also occur in hippocampal excitotoxicity, but few studies have investigated immediate effect after kainic acid exposure.

To update the efficacy and safety of different drugs for the treatment of patients with hyperphosphatemia in chronic kidney disease, we conducted a network meta-analysis of 22 therapies for the treatment of uncontrolled hyperphosphatemia in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). All randomized controlled trials on hyperphosphatemia published from January 2013 to November 2023 were searched from CNKI, VIP database, Wanfang database, PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane databases. Meta-analysis was used to evaluate the serum phosphorus, calcium levels, total effective rate and adverse events of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Early coagulation changes as predictors of adverse outcomes in patients with severe burn and inhalation injuries.

Burns

Department of Critical Care Medicine, Shanghai East Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai, 200120, China. Electronic address:

Background: Disorders of the coagulation pathway are triggered in patients with severe burn and inhalation injuries in the early stages. There are multiple early coagulation indices identified to correlate with adverse outcomes.

Method: A retrospective analysis of patients with severe burn and inhalation injuries from 12 centers in mainland China was performed to identify early changed coagulation indices with predictive value associated with four major 28-day adverse outcomes (death, anticoagulation, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy) by logistic regression.

The transglutaminase (TGMs) family plays a crucial role in regulating mammalian reproduction, yet its impact on poultry reproductive traits has not been extensively studied. In this study, we identified eight members of the TGMs family in chickens and examined the contributions of genetic variations of coagulation factor XIII A chain (F13A1), transglutaminase 4 (TGM4), and LOC101749664 to selective breeding in commercial layers through genetic variation response pattern analysis. Transcriptome data from various tissues of high- and low-egg-yielding Gushi chickens revealed significant positive correlations between the mRNA expression levels of TGM4 and F13A1 genes and egg production (P < 0.
