The US Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (USCACA) teamed up with Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) to host a joint session at the17th CSCO Annual Meeting on September 20th, 2014 in Xiamen, China. With a focus on breakthrough cancer medicines, the session featured innovative approaches to evaluate breakthrough agents and established a platform to interactively share successful experiences from case studies of 6 novel agents from both the United States and China. The goal of the session is to inspire scientific and practical considerations for clinical trial design and strategy to expedite cancer drug development in China. A panel discussion further provided in-depth advice on advancing both early and full development of novel cancer medicines in China.

Sialic acid, a negatively charged nine-carbon monosaccharide, is mainly located at the terminal end of glycan chains on glycoproteins and glycolipids of cell surface and most secreted proteins. Elevated levels of sialylated glycans have been known as a hallmark in numerous cancers. As a result, sialic acid acts as a useful and accessible cancer biomarker for early cancer detection and monitoring the disease development during cancer treatment which is crucial in elevating the survival rate.

Gastric cancer (GC) metastasis is the main cause of poor prognosis for GC patients. In recent years, breakthroughs in immunotherapy have been made in the treatment of many kinds of cancers, providing new hope for patients with GC metastasis. This paper reviews the mechanism of immunotherapy in GC metastasis and its clinical application, and discusses and compares the research and efficacy of immunotherapy in patients with liver metastasis, lung metastasis, peritoneal metastasis and lymph node metastasis of GC.

Recent advances in drug discovery have established biosensors as indispensable tools, particularly valued for their precision, sensitivity, and real-time monitoring capabilities. The review begins with a brief overview of cancer drug discovery, underscoring the pivotal role of biosensors in advancing cancer research. Various types of biosensors employed in cancer drug discovery are then explored, with particular emphasis on fluorescence- and bioluminescence-based technologies such as FRET, TR-FRET, BRET, NanoBRET, and NanoBiT.

Purpose: Fentanyl, a highly lipophilic opioid, was developed as a sublingual fentanyl tablet (SFT) for the management of breakthrough cancer pain (BTcP), and its efficacy and safety were confirmed in a randomized, controlled study. We investigated the effectiveness and safety of SFT administered to alleviate BTcP in a real-world setting.
Materials And Methods: In this prospective, open, single-cohort study, conducted in 13 referral hospitals in South Korea, opioid-tolerant cancer patients receiving around-the-clock opioids for persistent cancer pain were enrolled if the individual had BTcP ≥ 1 episode/day during the preceding week.

Immunotherapy, which uses the body's immune system to fight cancer cells, has gained attention recently as a breakthrough in cancer treatment. Although significant progress has been made, obstacles still exist since cancers are skilled at avoiding immune monitoring. The gut microbiota is being looked at more and more in modern research as a critical component in improving the results of immunotherapy.
