Pasteur described an organism causing fowl cholera in 1880. In 134 years we have progressed from crude vaccines for Pasteurella, to some refined vaccines, to a name change (Mannheimia), to autogenous vaccines (back to crude). In the last 25-30 years, we have attempted to mitigate the problem of bovine respiratory disease with antimicrobials and subsequently have a high incidence of multi-drug resistance. All of these attempts have resulted in little if any improvement in morbidity/mortality. Is it time to focus on the animal's response or lack of response to infectious pressure? Instead of focusing on the 10-50% morbid cattle should we focus on the 50-90% that are not compromised and determine why they stay healthy under the same environmental conditions?

Background: Bromodomain-containing protein (BRD) play a pivotal role in the development and progression of malignant tumours. This study aims to identify prognostic genes linked to BRD-related genes (BRDRGs) in patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and to construct a novel prognostic model.
Methods: Data from TCGA-TNBC, GSE135565, and GSE161529 were retrieved from public databases.

Serving as a dedicated process analytical technology (PAT) tool for biomass monitoring and control, the capacitance probe, or dielectric spectroscopy, is showing great potential in robust pharmaceutical manufacturing, especially with the growing interest in integrated continuous bioprocessing. Despite its potential, challenges still exist in terms of its accuracy and applicability, particularly when it is used to monitor cells during stationary and decline phases. In this study, data pre-processing methods were first evaluated through cross-validation, where the first-order derivative emerged as the most effective method to diminish variability in prediction accuracy across different training datasets.

The cat eye syndrome chromosome region candidate 2 (CECR2) protein is an epigenetic regulator involved in chromatin remodeling and transcriptional control. The CECR2 bromodomain (CECR2-BRD) plays a pivotal role in directing the activity of CECR2 through its capacity to recognize and bind acetylated lysine residues on histone proteins. This study elucidates the binding specificity and structural mechanisms of CECR2-BRD interactions with both histone and non-histone ligands, employing techniques such as isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, and a high-throughput peptide assay.

Lung ultrasonography can facilitate bovine respiratory disease (BRD) detection and can potentially improve treatment outcomes. In this study, ninety-six veal calves were followed weekly with clinical and lung ultrasound examinations during the production cycle. Thirty-six calves had clinical signs and abnormal lung ultrasound scans (TRT, n = 36) and were promptly treated with florfenicol and meloxicam.
