In 1996, the World Health Organization set out guidelines for normal birth. Because that time birth in the United States has continued to be intervention intensive, the cesarean rate has skyrocketed and maternal mortality, although low, is rising. At the same time, research continues to provide evidence for the benefits of supporting the normal physiologic process of labor and birth and the risks of interfering with this natural process. This article reviews the current state of U.S. maternity care and discusses research and advocacy efforts that address this issue. This article describes optimal care in childbirth and introduces the Lamaze International Six Healthy Birth Practices.

Muscular manifestations are common complaints encountered in daily rheumatology practice. Magnetic resonance imaging and electromyography are employed to evaluate muscular manifestations associated with myositis and other rheumatologic diseases, but both have limitations that hinder their universal applicability. Ultrasound, on the other hand, has been increasingly used given its utility as a point-of-care tool.

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a life-limiting, inherited condition in which a novel class of oral medicine, CFTR modulators, has revolutionised symptoms and health indicators, providing an opportunity to evaluate traditional treatment regimens with the hope of reducing burden. Additionally, there is cautious optimism that life expectancy for people with CF born today could ultimately compare to that of the general population. Given this potential, there is a need and requirement to optimise treatment to balance burden with the best clinical outcomes for each person with CF in an individualised manner.

To assess the difference in discriminatory ability between the predictive model and currently used screening questions.
Background: Hospital falls are a persistent challenge.

Chronic limb-threatening ischemia is an advanced stage of peripheral artery disease characterized by rest pain or tissue loss. Treatment of patients classified as ``no-option'' CLTI remains particularly challenging, as historically their primary treatment has been limited to major amputation. Venous arterialization has emerged as a promising alternative in this difficult-to-treat population.

Cardiogenic shock is not a singular disease but rather a complex syndrome - characterized by systemic hypoperfusion, elevated intracardiac pressures, and insufficient cardiac output due to various possible underlying causes, leading to an acute, life-threatening, and critical condition.Significant advancements have been made in recent years in understanding the epidemiology, clinical course, phenotyping, hemodynamics, and the standardized classification of disease severity. However, progress in therapeutic interventions aimed at improving prognosis has been comparatively limited, with only a few therapies demonstrating significant evidence in randomized controlled trials.
