Eating behavior stands as a fundamental determinant of animal survival and growth, intricately regulated by an amalgamation of internal and external stimuli. Coordinated movements of facial muscles and the mandible orchestrate prey capture and food processing, propelled by the allure of taste and rewarding food properties. Conversely, satiation, pain, aversion, negative emotion or perceived threats can precipitate the cessation or avoidance of eating activities.

Pain management is the hallmark of palliative care; however, pain is commonly underassessed in cases of advanced dementia and delirium (acute confusional state). We present a case of a 66-year-old female patient with severe dementia who was hospitalized because of behavioral changes and sleep disturbance. Symptoms of confusion, disorientation, inattention, and agitation were most severe at night.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that combines genetic and environmental factors. The human microbiota is colonized by permanent or transitory microorganisms, depending on the host and the external factors controlling their permanence. The composition of the gut microbiota (GM) in ASD individuals is notably different from that in controls, which may contribute to the clinical conditions observed in these individuals.

In a prospective longitudinal study applying ecological momentary assessment (EMA) and ambulatory assessment of weight, we measured the association between discrimination, stress and postpartum weight change. The Postpartum Mothers Mobile Study (PMOMS) is a cohort of 313 pregnant and birthing individuals who were followed during their second and third trimester through 1 year postpartum.
