Oxygen isotope fractionations in double carbonates of different crystal structures were calculated by the increment method. Synthesis experiments were performed at 60 °C and 100 °C to determine oxygen and carbon isotope fractionations involving PbMg[CO3]2. The calculations suggest that the double carbonates of calcite structure are systematically enriched in (18)O relative to those of aragonite and mixture structures. Internally consistent oxygen isotope fractionation factors are obtained for these minerals with respect to quartz, calcite and water at a temperature range of 0-1200 °C. The calculated fractionation factors for double carbonate-water systems are generally consistent with the data available from laboratory experiments. The experimentally determined fractionation factors for PbMg[CO3]2, BaMg[CO3]2 and CaMg[CO3]2 against H2O not only fall between fractionation factors involving pure carbonate end-members but are also close to the calculated fractionation factors. In contrast, experimentally determined carbon isotope fractionation factors between PbMg[CO3]2 and CO2 are much closer to theoretical predictions for the cerussite-CO2 system than for the magnesite-CO2 system, similar to the fractionation behavior for BaMg[CO3]2. Therefore, the combined theoretical and experimental results provide insights into the effects of crystal structure and exchange kinetics on oxygen isotope partitioning in double carbonates.

Rationale: Guidelines recommend patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) be referred to pulmonary hypertension (PH) centers, but little is known about where care is actually delivered in the United States (US).
Objectives: To use prescription patterns to estimate the proportion of PAH care delivered at US PH centers and explore factors associated with location of care.
Methods: This retrospective study analyzed claims from the Komodo database in adults who received ≥1 PAH prescription between March 2021 and February 2022.

The study aimed to evaluate the effect of subclinical endometritis (SCE) on reproductive performance and identify risk factors for this pathology in small-scale dairies. In four small-scale dairies, 608 lactations were monitored for health issues, nutritional status, and reproductive events, and SCE was diagnosed based on endometrial polymorphonuclear counting (PMN%) at 30±5 (SCE30) and 60±5 (SCE60) days postpartum. The threshold for diagnosis was established according to the quartile distribution of PMN%; 4 % and 2 % for SCE30 and SCE60.

Introduction: Bone spinal metastases disrupt the bone homeostasis, inducing a local imbalance in the bone formation and/or resorption, with consequent loss of the structural optimisation of the vertebrae and increase of the risk of fracture. Little is known about the microstructure of the metastatic tissue, the microstructure of the tissue surrounding the lesion, and how it does compare with vertebrae with no lesions observed on the biomedical images. A comprehensive assessment of the microstructural properties of the entire vertebral body can be obtained with micro computed tomography.

Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remains a major global health burden, encompassing a spectrum of conditions from unstable angina to acute myocardial infarction. Despite advancements in early detection and management, ACS is often complicated by the development of heart failure. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to identify factors associated with the development of heart failure following acute coronary syndrome.

A novel method has been developed for the simultaneous online determination of the isotopic compositions of different antimony (Sb) species in a single analytical run using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with multicollector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICPMS), with hydride generation (HG) serving as the interface. Various parameters affecting the precision of Sb isotope analysis including HG conditions, transient signal processing methods and peak integration windows, were optimized. The linear regression slope method and a 100% peak integration window provided the optimal precision.
