Purpose: The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of life-supporting interventions and the short-term outcomes of older patients in ICUs in Japan.
Methods: All adult patients admitted to ICUs participating in the Japanese Intensive Care Patient Database (JIPAD) from April 1, 2015, to March 31, 2022, were eligible for inclusion. Information, including life-supporting interventions, was retrieved from the database.

In neonatal and pediatric patients who require extracorporeal life support (ECLS), 60-70% develop acute kidney injury (AKI). Acute kidney injury has been associated with increased morbidity and mortality. We sought to describe our center's experience with AKI in patients requiring ECLS and its effect on outcomes.

Effective ECPR requires precise patient selection, rapid mobilization of a multidisciplinary team, and skilled cannulation techniques. Establishing a program necessitates a cohesive ECMO system that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, which is essential for managing acute cardiogenic shock and severe pulmonary failure.
