Objectives: This study aimed to assess and compare the levels of interleukin-1beta (IL-1β) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the crevicular fluid around healthy implants, implants with peri-implantitis, and healthy teeth.
Materials And Methods: This study evaluated 16 dental implants in 8 patients (4 males and 4 females). These patients had at least one healthy implant and one implant with peri-implantitis next to healthy teeth. The crevicular fluid was collected using absorbent cones and transferred to the laboratory. Specimens were evaluated by ELISA for interleukin levels. Data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA and Bonferroni tests (P<0.05).
Results: Levels of IL-1β in the crevicular fluid around implants with peri-implantitis were significantly higher than around healthy implants (P=0.002); the latter was significantly higher than around healthy teeth (P=0.015). A significant difference was found in the level of IL-6 in the crevicular fluid around implants with peri-implantitis and healthy implants (P=0.049) and also between implants with peri-implantitis and healthy teeth (P<0.001).
Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, significant differences exist in the levels of IL-1β and IL-6 in the crevicular fluid of implants with peri-implantitis, healthy implants, and healthy teeth. More studies with larger sample sizes in different populations are necessary.

Objective: The aim was to investigate the clinical performance of microRNA-199a-3p (miR-199a-3p) in patients with chronic periodontitis.
Methods: 91 patients with chronic periodontitis and 78 healthy individuals were enrolled for the research subjects. MiR-199a-3p expression was detected using real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) assay.

Objective: the ε4 allele of the apolipoprotein E gene (APOE4) is recognized as the primary genetic risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and has been associated with chronic inflammatory conditions, such as periodontal disease (PD). PD has been identified as having a potentiating effect that favors the development and progression of AD. This scoping review investigates the potential relationship between PD and AD through APOE4 METHODS: the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology was used.

: Cytokines related to the Th17 response have been associated with peri-implant diseases; however, the effect of peri-implant therapy on their modulation remains underexplored. To evaluate the effect of peri-implant therapy on the expression of cytokines related to the Th17 response in the peri-implant crevicular fluid (PICF) (GM-CSF, IFN-γ, IL-1β, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12 (p70), IL-17A, IL-21, IL-23, and TNF-α) of partially edentulous patients with peri-implant disease (PID). : Thirty-seven systemically healthy individuals presenting with peri-implant mucositis (PIM) (n = 20) or peri-implantitis (PI) (n = 17) were treated and evaluated at baseline (T0) and three months after therapy (T1).

The sensitive detection of inflammatory biomarkers in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) is highly desirable for the evaluation of periodontal disease. Luminol-based electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensors offer a promising approach for the fast and convenient detection of biomarkers. However, luminol's low ECL efficiency under neutral conditions remains a challenge.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate bone remodeling in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) during canine distalization in obese individuals and compare it to that in normal-weight individuals. Additionally, the orthodontic tooth movement rates of obese individuals were measured and compared with those of normal-weight individuals.
Methods: Thirty-six patients (18 obese and 18 normal-weight) aged 12-18 years who were candidates for maxillary first premolar extraction for Angle Class II malocclusion were included in the study.
