Anions play a crucial role in various environmental, chemical, and biological processes. Among various anions, the production of perchlorate (ClO ) ion is expected to rise in upcoming years, and thus, an efficient method for the detection of perchlorate ion is highly desirable. In this effort, a pyridyl-benzimidazole-based luminescent probe (RSB1) containing two N-H donor sites has been synthesized for selective detection of perchlorate ion.

Background: The unregulated use of pesticides by farmers, for crop productivity results in widespread contamination of organophosphates in real environmental samples, which is a growing societal concern about their potential health effects. The conventional approaches for the monitoring these organophosphate-based pesticides which include immunoassays, electrochemical methods, immunosensors, various chromatography techniques, along with some spectroscopic methods, are either costly, sophisticated, or involves the use of different metal complexes. Therefore, there is an urgent need for sensitive, quick, and easy-to-use detection techniques for the screening of widely used organophosphate-based pesticides.

MgO surface makes it easy to introduce a certain amount of oxygen vacancy and can enhance catalytic reaction activity. Besides, as a silicoaluminate mineral material, halloysite nanotube (HNT) has a unique tubular structure. In this paper, the HNTs@MgO composite was successfully synthesized based on natural clay material HNTs as a carrier, and the CTL sensor based on HNTs@MgO was successfully developed for the rapid determination of ether in air.

Lanthanide-based luminescent materials hold promise in sensing applications due to their distinct optical properties. Though advancements in lanthanide-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have enhanced downshifting luminescence, achieving upconversion remains challenging. In this effort, we prepared upconverting ytterbium-doped europium MOFs (%Yb-EuMOFs; = 10, 20, and 30) via the solvothermal method using 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid (NDC) as an organic linker.

The properties of soil matrix have an impact on the fluorescence intensity of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which restricts the application of fluorescence spectral technology in detecting PAHs in soil. The present study explored the mechanism of the influence of soil matrix properties on the fluorescence intensity of PAHs from the perspective of specific surface area (SSA). A three-factor three-level experimental design was adopted for investigating the relationship between soil matrix properties, PAH fluorescence intensity, and soil SSA.
