Nanotechnology and its application in dentistry.

Nanotechnology influences almost every facet of everyday life from security to medicine. The concept of nanotechnology is that when one goes down to the bottom of things, one can discover unlimited possibilities and potential of the basic particle. In nanotechnology, analysis can be made to the level of manipulating atoms, molecules and chemical bonds between them. The growing interest in the dental applications of nanotechnology is leading to the emergence of a new field called nanodentistry. An electronic database search that included PubMed, MedLine, and Cochrane library was conducted. Key words used in the search are nanotechnology dentistry and applications. Language limitation was set as articles reviewed were only those written and published in English language. We did not search the gray literature. Initially, 52 articles were retrieved from the database, and articles considered were those published from 2008 to 2013. Eight articles that met the selection criteria were eventually selected and reviewed.

In the fast-paced quest for early cancer detection, noninvasive screening techniques have emerged as game-changers, offering simple and accessible avenues for precession diagnostics. In line with this, our study highlights the potential of silver nanoparticle-decorated titanium carbide MXene nanosheets (TiC_AgNPs) as an electroactive interface for the noninvasive diagnosis of oral carcinoma based on the prevalence of the salivary biomarker, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). An in situ reduction was utilized to synthesize the TiC_AgNPs nanohybrid, wherein TiC acts as the reducing agent, and the resulting nanohybrid was subjected to various characterization techniques to examine the optical, structural, and morphological attributes.

Emerging evidence indicates that intratumor bacteria exist as an active and specific tumor component in many tumor types beyond digestive and respiratory tumors. Quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) methods represent a powerful family of computational techniques for tackling complex quantum many-body problems and performing calculations of stationary state properties. QMC is among the most accurate and powerful approaches to the study of electronic structure, but its application is often hindered by a steep learning curve; hence it is rarely addressed in undergraduate and postgraduate classes.
