SnSe alloy is examined for the first time as an anode for Na-ion batteries, and shows excellent electrochemical performance including a high reversible capacity of 707 mA h g(-1) and stable cycle performance over 50 cycles. Upon sodiation, SnSe is changed into amorphous NaxSn nanodomains dispersed in crystalline Na2Se, and SnSe is reversibly restored after desodiation.
SnSe materials have attracted extensive attention in thermoelectrics due to their low thermal conductivity. Nevertheless, the thermoelectric properties of n-type polycrystalline SnSe are still low, and metallic Sn distributed in the SnSe materials would affect the repeatability of thermoelectric performance. Herein, the thermoelectric properties of n-type polycrystalline SnSe-based composites are highly enhanced by heterogeneous Cu doping.
Two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals heterostructures that embody the electronic characteristics of each constituent material have found extensive applications. Alloy engineering further enables the modulation of the electronic properties in these structures. Consequently, we envisage the construction and modulation of composition-dependent antiambipolar transistors (AATs) using van der Waals heterostructures and alloy engineering to advance multivalued inverters.
The attractive physical properties of two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors in group IVA-VIA have been fully revealed in recent years. Combining them with 2D ambipolar materials to construct van der Waals heterojunctions (vdWHs) can offer tremendous opportunities for designing multifunctional electronic and optoelectronic devices, such as logic switching circuits, half-wave rectifiers, and broad-spectrum photodetectors. Here, an optimized SnSeS is grown to design a SnSeS/MoTe vdWH for logic operation and wide-spectrum photodetection.
Recently, the earth-abundant tin sulfide (SnS) has emerged as a promising thermoelectric material due to its phonon and electron structure similar to that of tin selenide (SnSe). However, compared with SnSe, limited progress has been achieved in the thermoelectric property enhancement of SnS. Textured SnS polycrystals with an enhanced thermoelectric performance have been developed in this work.
GeSe, an analogue of SnSe, shows promise in exhibiting exceptional thermoelectric performance in the phase. The constraints on its dopability, however, pose challenges in attaining optimal carrier concentrations and improving values. This study demonstrates a crystal structure evolution strategy for achieving highly doped samples and promising s in GeSe via LiBiTe alloying.
